I have long discussed with some players about this topic and then we have come to a solution that could make sense of the defensive stance with specialization in tactics and could solve one of the problems for which I have heard more complaints.

What about a little Magic resist bonus to defensive stance if specialized in tactics?

It could be a little magic resist buff that last with the defensive stance buff or a good active one (like deflect, parry, dodge, glancing blow) for example when you use defensive stance it gives a good magic resist buff for few seconds.

This would help those who decided to take the path of the pure physical character who wants to have a minimum of magical resistance without necessarily having to overboost their attunement in all schools.

Other opinions came out in the discussion were to add a little cc resist bonus, slow/root resist or a bigger bonus boost to defensive skills than what it normally does (deflect, glancing blow, parry, dodge) obviously always if specialized in tactics.

I think the specialization in tactics is chosen over another often to have more versatility and this would finally give meaning to the defensive part of this school without major imbalances.

    Any thoughts?

    @Chris

CC resistance is an especially good idea.

It does this already, i get a higher bonus on the dodge skill when i use it after using defensive stance.

The order that you use them no longer matters. Also, @Antrax Artek was just saying that it should be a buff similar to those.

It would definitely be cool if there was a temporary resist buff that could be used reflexively like so many physical skills can be. Something like that could make boss fights a lot more balanced also. The way it is now, there are some things that just roast you and you can either take it or you can't.

Oh sorry, maybe I expressed myself badly. I meant if you're specialized in tactics you get a bigger bonus than what it normally does.
Fixed in the main thread, I hope now it is understandable :)

Tactics spec is already one of the most used specializations. If this was going to be added I'd rather it be added to shield of heavy armor spec.

Yes but it's basically used just for the damage department or dual wield (Berseker stance gives you 75% critical damage at 80 spec and parry stuff) I find right to be given a sense even to the defensive stance skill.
Imagine if the bonus specialization of Berserker stance was 10 reduction to damage resist penalty instead of 75%+ critical damage, the situation of the defensive stance is currently very similar to this.
Being a branch that should guarantee a lot of versatility i really think also the other stances should be meaningful if you are specialized.

A spell reflect system for shields would be awesome ;)

I like my 8% attack speed reduction for defensive stance instead of the non-specialized 20% reduction :D.

Is that for 80 or 100 (or more) specialization?

119 for 8.1 percent decrease... still a little ways away from 120. I use berserker far more however defensive stance still had some important uses. I believe 80 is 10% and 100 is 9%.

Instead of changing old skills perhaps we should focus on making up new skills that can only be used when you have the specialization of a skill tree? Like perhaps a skill that increases magical resistances, but lowers your physical defenses?

or an an enchantment, why creating a resist magic skill it exists... in magic trees, bring resist magic enchantments then people would add magic resistanc eto their stuff (and not only gems which are uselless)

Would need to probably add a negative to spell casting somewhere in there though...

I think its fine the way it is, the attack speed mod does help a bit for tanks to keep agro, more hits more agro.
