"Demand pricing" doesn't show until after you drag an item over?

I was just now trying to buy a recipe, and it showed up as a price of 250. I dragged it over to buy it and the price was 750. What?

I knew that demand pricing was a thing, but I didn't realize that you didn't see the "real" price until after you dragged it over. It would be kind of nice to see it on the vendor price on the left side of the window. I had heard of people buying things at absurd prices in Owl's Head, now maybe I know why.

 

Er, never mind, I just realized it was a (3) stack and I didn't notice because the name was too long and it got cut off. I'm not sure why vendors have more than one of some recipes, it's not like you can learn them more than once.
