I just checked my Win10 Pro laptop and it is already at DX12. How will this impact my ability to play SoTA if DX12 is not supported?
Well you tickled me before bed and I think I'll sleep very well...at least after I stop giggling :p

Why bother with DX anyway, Vulkan is the future.

Is the bug that makes sota crash when I use dx11 going to be fixed?

Want to know what version you are running? In Windows, open the search/start bar and type dxdiag, then select it from the results. The window that pops up shows you your DirectX version.

There is a workaround for many people, that is, enabling DirectX 9 to play SOTA. DirectX 11 works fine on these machines with ALL OTHER GAMES, just SOTA has this problem. Will you be able to fix these graphical bugs that show up on certain machines, that is machines that other Direct X 11 games work fine with? @Chris

Can anyone tell me if a Radeon HD 7400 supports dx 11? I tried searching google but didn't find an answer and I am not so tech savvy. Hoping my system will be able to run this game after they make the changes as its a lower end laptop.

@Berek it might be a good idea to update the min spec's listed in the FAQ on the SotA page. R42 is coming soon :)

I'd rather you didn't spend time on something that only works on Windows 10 and instead focus on Vulkan which will work on all currently supported versions of Windows as well Linux.

What about if I want to run two games at the same time? ;)

There is not any game that eats more than 8gb of ram. And if you find one, that game is terrible bad optimized. Any of my daily work sessions eats more ram and needs more CPU power than any game nowadays.

Well, if you looking to play 2-3 games at same time, you don't need more ram, you will probably need more GPUs and more CPUs first :D

There's at least one, it's called Shroud of the Avatar, typically 15-16GB after I've been playing for a few hours.

My CPU has four cores, very few games are multi-threaded enough to take advantage of all of them simultaneously.

You would need more GPUs or more CPUs (mhz) because games are still all about MHZ (cpu wise), not cores, and more GPU. Games were never intended for multi-threaded. Just make a list of games using more than 2 cores and taking advantage of that. In total, less than 5% of videogames nowadays. Try now to work with CG or video editing, that's the difference.

We know that SotA still needs lot of optimization work, and we hope Unity updates can help.

Are you sure you're not including cached memory in that figure?

cached memory = memory being used, but doesn't have to be used.. is automatically evicted on-demand. it's normal for a computer to use as much cache as it wants because there is no performance downside to totally saturated memory.

I play 3 clients on one computer, which only has 16GB RAM.

Yes, that was my point. I already have enough cores to run two games at once, I do not need additional CPUs.

I'm referring to the RES and SHR columns in the output from top, I'd have to do some research to see if they include cached memory.
