Is there a way to disable the highlighting of objects in the game (and maybe of enemies and NPCs, too)?

I think it is very annoying to see something glowing everywhere I click with the mouse...

Also, do we really need to be shown that a door can opened? ;)

Aside from being annoying and immersion breaking another negative effect the highlighting has is that you just look for highlighted objects, every other object is not important anymore. Therefore you are no longer in a virtual world but the highlighting rubs it under your nose that you are in a game. It is the same with exclamation marks above heads of NPCs or bread crumb trails to the next quest locations in other games. The world is becoming less and less important and you are only looking for the next exclamation mark and in terms of SotA the next highlighted object. Also wasn't this one of the things Richard Garriott didn't want in his game?

So I hope that there will be an option to turn the highlighting off.

Yes! I hope they put in an option to disable the highlights. At the very least, turn down the glow. Those highlighted objects and npcs are so bright they're almost blinding.

I love the highlights! The first thing that I noticed when I started playing...At least now I can tell what I'm targeting instead of attacking nothing...

Yep, agreed! We should be given sliders to:

    - change the intensity of the glow
    - enable/disable the glow on NPCs
    - enable/disable the glow on Players
    - enable/disable the glow on Objects

I guess you can accomplish this with a slider for each, where zero is turned off, and then any non-zero value is the intensity.

I don't mind the highlighting on players because it's the only way to know in combat, but on objects, not so much.

I agree I absolutely HATE the glowing effect! I hope at least they give us an option to turn it down and or give us an option of what we want it on. For instance I would not mind a slight glow on npcs/monsters I have targeted but I don't need doors and that sort of stuff glowing!

If the above were implemented, one minor change:

    - enable/disable the glow on Objects in the world
    - enable/disable the glow on Objects in your inventory/containers

I remember some people making the second request in various threads, so wanted to make a distinction between the two.

I can understand that some people like it. But as it seems some others don't. So it should be an option to turn it on and off.

Just let the head of your avatar follow the movement selected target.
This is a soft system and realistic system for those who hate highlights

Also we already have an indication for interactive objects. The mouse pointer begins to glow when moving over an interactive object.

Yes, please remove all highlighting and the mind-numbing 45 second delay after death. It would also be good to remove those numbers that float from enemies as they are healing.

I never understood the need for combat floaties. Do people really sum up those numbers in order to know how many HP an enemy has? So you sit there and sum up the numbers coming up (persumably with a calculator as sometimes those numbers come up really fast) and wait until you think you are ready to attack or what?
If not? What is the purpose of those numbers?

Sorry, but no one can tell me that he really sums up all those numbers in such a game:

So what are those numbers for???

I like the highlights and floaties. I understand why some people don't. I'm all for an option to tone them down to customize to individual play styles.

Actually, I think you underestimate the need to nail down every possible number present in the equation for the modern gamer. Trust me... there are people that will record a game and play it back so they can get these numbers!

Just think about where all the numbers for Stratics come from... most of the developers certainly didn't give that information away (monster HP ranges, weapon damage, etc.)

Related but a bit of a side topic, if when hovering over a interactive object we could get the info on it, thatd rock.

I noticed many times id go to pick up (steal) items from somewhere (a npc) and i wanted to see what it was before moving it to my inventory but coukdnt get info until i took it. Once in pack hover gives nice info
