Yes, I would like the option for first person. I would prefer to play that way but it is nice to occasionally play in 3rd person. First person is very much preferred though.

First person would be much easier to decorate in & possibly read/interface with the puzzles that may end up in the game. Nothing worse than being in my own way. :)

As my father use to say, "you make a better door than a window..".

In EQ2 I like switching to 1st person when navigating tight spaces, swimming or roleplaying.

Seeing the world through my avatar's eyes is like a Husky (dog) crossing the street, it's like I have blinders on and tunnel vision, while I also don't particularly like my avatar being in the way when I'm looking at anything. I'm in favor of a quick switch button between them, because I think the old UO style of view is out of Tech Fashion and just won't work here in SotA.
    But, I'll miss it:(

Def should be in. Gives us more choice on when inspecting people and laying out items in housing.

Yes I think we are getting the ability to scroll in and out to have it be 1st person or 3rd person view. I'm sure I heard it someplace.
It really helps when decorating and taking screenshots. A lot of things just aren't in yet, but we'll get there.;)

Similarly, I'd like the option (not least because my best friend is interested by SOTA but finds 3rd person disorienting, so it'd help my case with him). Depending on how it's implemented, an optional first person view could make combat feel a bit smoother, too, as I find trying to control a camera while fighting challenging.

I'd also love to be able to zoom out further than I can right now to produce a pseudo isometric view, although I realise that could be challenging to get to fit with issues such as hex edges and quality to horizon if you could zoom out too far.

Whether these views would be practical to implement or compatible with the control system is another question, but they'd certainly be nice to have.

Yes, as an option. I think it would be preferable for people with Oculus, especially if they let us see our bodies.

SWTOR has the option to switch into first person view but I find it unusable in combat where I need awareness of my surroundings, multiple enemies, etc.

The game was designed for a third person view so while the option for first person exists, they expect you to be able to see everything from a larger third person perspective.

When I take the screenies sometimes I made this "fake first person view". I zoom in 100% and I look to the front. Then I keep the mouse "looking to the front" and the keys running back. For few seconds I have that view and I can take the screenshot without my own character in the photo...

    Why I told you this?

    Tricky.

Mind you, in R6 it probably would have been easier if you had just used the "/visible" command to make your character invisible. :)

I was really hoping for something actually first person wherein you see your lower torso, items you have equipped, hands etc like the better Elder Scrolls, as in, a combat feasible mode.
It would suck pretty bad for oculus support if it just played like WoW's shoddy first person mode.

I much prefer first person view, and don't care if it makes textures look muddy or whatever because they are close up. They had both 1st and 3rd person in Skyrim and Fallout 3, so it can be done.
The main difficulty is probably combat animations, but if I can at least walk around, admire the view and talk to people in true 1st person, that would be wonderful (and much more immersive).
If combat forces a change to 3rd person, that's a reasonable compromise.
