What they really mean is that they provide less of a bonus now. These used to be +10. These were some of my favorite things in this game, so why did they need to be nerfed?
I think this goes along with the design decision that the best gear is craftable. The fact is they are outdated and most players don’t use them because crafted items have better stats. My head slot has 11.6 int plus other attributes like focus, focus regen, etc. I can now remove them from inventory, display them (they have very cool VFX), and I also have the chance to salvage them and get a pattern to apply to really great crafted gear. I see this as being all positive. BTW you left out the Scepter of Dread, which is never used unless you have bludgeon skills. Being able to use it as deco is fantastic.
I don't know, getting a +11 int/dex or better crafted item is fairly easy. I don't think the Dread artis were outshining crafted gear at all. If I had to guess, they made the assumption that higher level players like Barugon don't use them, and based the AL scaling on what would be beneficial to lower level players without outshining anything a lower level player could craft for themselves. Or, possibly, they worried about them being too powerful for those AL 140ish players. If it were my decision, I would have probably set the scaling so that you'd get +10 at AL 100, with a hard cap of maybe +12 or so.
These are now going to be Over powered PVP items, when ever they add in the lvl 100 cap and gems/enchantments are null for PVP calculations.
Setting everything else aside for the moment.... a quick question for you @Barugon : Did you actually wear this into battle ?
They seem to be partially AL based and(?) partially virtue based. All mine are at +10.1 stat, so there's potential for them to become even more powerful than before. But happily we can now also apply patterns the have the appearance of these artifacts to crafted pieces, so if you're a fan of the bonesteel crown style you can apply it to a +19 (or even +36 or more) int hood and whatnot to get the best of both worlds.
The level caps and the gear caps are separate. We have many level capped PvP zones at the moment (ranging form level 80 to level 120 cap) and two gear capped zones. The gear capped zones both give 0% stat from gear, and this should include the Dread artifacts. If you find that they are working please bug report it. Only one of these gear capped zones (Obsidian Trial) is level capped at level 100. The other (Ardoris Arena) has no level cap.
So, now we have to be AL 150 to get the same bonus we had before? I actually hate the way these things look.
Huh, you can reshape a neckalce. Is that new for the dread artifacts? I can't think of any other neck pieces that actually showed on your toon except the dread necklace.
How is this even a discussion? 1-2 stat is irrelevant. You can get more from a slot or two of food, around 45 from a single potion... or perhaps gain enough xp to level up train strength, int or dex to add an extra stat point or two in the time spent reading about and stressing over a trivial changes.
I'm certainly not AL150, and I mean, if you're not using them for style I kinda agree with the comments above. The change is minimal and affects a very narrow use-case where there are many options that are slightly worse in some ways and better in others.
