Edvard keeps asking me to cross the bridge again

Title: In the Battle of Solace Bridge, Edvard keeps asking me to cross the bridge again.

Details: After finding Charlotte and having her follow me, I run into Edvard, who then helps in fighting off the zombies. After reaching the other end, he stops following and just keeps repeating "Let us try to cross the bridge again, then". I cannot leave by boat because I am asked to talk to Edvard, who is stuck in this endless dialogue loop. This effectively traps my character in Solace Bridge.
Steps to reproduce: Just do the Battle of Solace Bridge quest, and seek out Charlotte Gray first, then talk to Edvard and follow him into battle. The problem occurs when all parties reach the other side of the bridge, near the boat.
*** I will point out that I followed Edvards instructions and went back and forth across the bridge several times, and only once did Edvard follow me across. ***

The same thing happens if you don't seek out Charlotte Gray. I went to the Battle of Solace Bridge before going to Soltown. Talked with Edvard on the bridge, picked up the bow, followed him across, and now all he says is "let us try to cross the bridge again, then" and also can not leave by boat.

Update: I just kept clicking on Edvard and getting the same dialogue each time and finally he took off back over the bridge and I followed. He turned around when we got to the gate and I followed him back. Then clicking on him got the same message of going across the bridge again. Clicked on him several more times then got the message of gaining 5000 experience points. Kept clicking on him and he finally took off back over the bridge to the gate. I followed. This time when we reached the Gate he thanked me for escorting him safely (but of course we were not across the bridge at that time) and told me about the boat and gave me the Stanley Note quest. And also received a message of gaining another 5000 experience points.

 

This happened to me at Solace Bridge as well. Eventually I got a "you are no longer escorting Edvard" message and was able to talk some sense into him and finish the quest.

 

I have this as well. He is just standing at the end of the bridge as if he is still on the escort quest. The keyword "boat" ended up forcing him to complete the quest, and Edvard runs off, but now I still cannot leave the scene.

By Starting at highvale, everything in this scene seems wrong. I don't need a bow (I am already armed). I have trouble with the escort quest finishing. I am offered the Stanley notes (which I have already completed as I did this quest in Highvale) and now I am stuck in the scene and cannot exit unless I quit game and start on overworld map.

 

Thanks, will try to address some of this, we may simply just not have the tutorial sequence accessible if you start elsewhere.

 

This was also my experience. When I could not leave by the boat (or teleport or recall) I went to the menu and logged back in on the overland map. Solace Bridge still shows from the overland map as being "Battle of Solace Bridge", so essentially the regular scene is impossible to access if you start in one of the other starter scenes.

Follow-up: Not sure if this is related, but even after relogging, I still cannot teleport or recall after leaving this scene.

 

Any update on if Edvard still REALLY wants to cross the bridge? I realize that this isn't a polished path but I'd still prefer to start on it next Thursday.

 

We have changed it in the next build so that if you start another path and then come to Solace Bridge you will no longer enter the tutorial version, but instead the after-the-battle version. Edvard will be there to give you the start of the Love Path quest and other items have been moved around to suit as well. The only quest you will not be able to complete is the Charlotte Gray quest. In future releases there will be similar virtue-based starter quests so you will not miss out.

We decided that the initial experience was too guided and too easy to break with a not-new character, thus the change.

 

Sad to see this. Is Abigail going to react differently for those starting on a different path than those just leaving her there. I don't think that someone starting on a different path would realize that Abigail saying go save my daughter is the correct response when they can't and didn't make a decision to deal with Charlotte one way or another. Somehow I think that Abigail's response of not knowing what happened to her daughter needs to not prime the player to assume there's not a quest to undertake.

 

If you did not start on Path of Love, Charlotte Gray is assumed to have passed away. There will be no alternate path.

There will be similar decision points throughout the game.

 

Gotcha. Will this and similar decision points, where the player hasn't really made a decision, negatively affect virtues and/or the story lines?
