Thanks for the clarification DS. Would it be possible to make it so combat adjusts it accordingly, like specifically taking damage releases the freeze? This will still keep non-combat movement hiccuped and overland travel slowed, but being killed in combat because of this will probably cause much grief from low focus people (2x encumbrance on someone without str and weight reduction is not very much at all).

    **Edit for clarification:
I'm not talking about just being in combat ready mode (weapon drawn). I'm talking about the actual you've been hit or have mob aggro on you. Being low on focus and kiting to keep out of range when near death is vital for some builds.

I get the feeling that the worst exploiters were strength-rich already, so this isn't really going to affect them as much as you might think.

I agree on this change excepted that I hope that in Town we don't have this effect.
Because I take all stuff when I want to craft. That is too much of time consuming to execute multiple run, specially when the house or bank is not near the crafting station.
Or we need a mule that can carry all stuff and that is only usable on town.

    ADDED:
    - ANother case. When I add stuff on my POT I also take near all stuff. And the wall have great weight.

    Sorry for my English

Chaos broke physics in R17 - a PaxLair storehouse imploded and it all went to someone's bank.

Enter @DarkStarr and after some work manages to put physics on hold and get things moving again.

And there it has stayed ever since, until now.

    Your loss.

[edit] BTW, coconut mounts are going to become more important real soon.

Well, all you need to do is talk to Nob the stable boy in Owls Head and ask him about Mounts...

Seems a bit subjective to say "important"...

I've been doing a lot of grinding, but never found I really have to carry so much to make it impact my Focus penalty. I'll spend two hours in a mine and not even get encumbered. Spend four hours and make it out without it starting the Focus penalty. I'll go out and hunt and collect loot to sell, spend close to an hour before worrying about encumbrance, get a couple of thousand gold.

So, encumbrance for routine gameplay is something I don't find to be a big deal.

The only place this will be an impact is if for some reason I deposited all my junk in one town and decided at the last minute I have to move it to another, or I'm doing a big trade with someone.

I don't mind the change, but some of the reasoning doesn't make much sense. This should prevent people from hauling ridiculously huge loads across the map at max encumbrance, but it won't stop people from gathering for long periods of time.

Most people already don't gather encumbered for very long now because you lose more time due to slower walking between nodes than you'd gain from skipping a town run in most cases. They can gather for a long time because they have the carry capacity to do it unencumbered. I'm not sure why it would be important to make people run to town more often anyway, or why there are mines with vendors in them if that's a concern.

I don't know of many gold farmers that waste their time leveling up str and encumbrance skills prior to farming... But you may be right on that.

The coming importance of coconuts isn't related to encumbrance.

Most of them are innate, right? So they level up on their own as you do other things.

To my knowledge strength is unlocked once health is high enough (starting build may affect this) and encumbrance once strength is @ 40 now (so early people were half as soon). Otherwise, yes they are innate once unlocked. Neither is improved by gathering (unless that got updated and I missed it).

many people do not read the forums and will get stuck with this change. any way to send out a few notifications in-game too, between now and when this triggers?
