@Elgarion Do the POT markers along the shorelines indicate places where Island POTs can go?
question @Elgarion will we know where some of the NPC starting places will be for better planning?
@Elgarion ... was just told that POT lots were marked on the QA server, so I checked it out and here is my opinion:
I definitely think much more work needs to be done on placement markers. I see a ton of markers on the lush/green parts of islands but there seems to be a sparse amount in the rocky/tundra areas. Whole coast lines of the tundra portions could use more placement markers. Don't limit the markers to how many people are moving. Add extra spots so we have a variety of choices. You can then wipe the ones that weren't picked after all have chosen.
I also think there should be more than one town placement near the "boat teleporters", possibly a cluster of 3?
Done. Good Catch
I really don't want to place my town immediately - (brand new ep2 town). I don't mind waiting till even later in the year. But I would like a little variety - don't just lock every other space out of consideration. The early birds can pick out their primo locations, I don't mind being different.
The teleportation portals make interconnection with Ep1 towns easy anyway. And it's going to be a while before there is enough Ep2 content and foot traffic to truly know where the good spots are.
I still remember when Owl's Head was the center of the SOTA universe. How things have changed.
I want to make sure @Ravalox and @Elgarion that island water towns like Dara Brae will be able to get an island water POT spot yet.
I have to agree with this post. It makes sense that episode 2 Pot's get first pick.
@Elgarion - has any consideration been made to allow new POT owners the use of abandoned POTs in the "OLD WORLD" as it seems the new islands will be fairly populated with New or moved POTs from the "OLD World"?? Just bringing this up now because it seems like the islands will be fairly full of new POTs...I will be watching for location markers to appear.... Thanks for your work in this...
Am I correct in my understanding that this land rush is only for POTs (new ones and ones that are moving from the Episode 1 lands)? It’s odd hearing about a land rush that I don’t have to concern myself with.
Looks like it, and only governors who :
1. Want to transfer their POTS to Mistrendur
2. Bought new POTS in Mistrendur
3. Want to claim POT space in Novia vacated by #1
are in the race
I would like to also echo Redhammer but add not just New POT but Nested POTs also be allowed to move to overworld for a service fee. I would like to move my nested POT to Overworld also after all the EP2 transfers are done. I had asked Sarah about this and she said they were considering it. Hopefully this is true and for a fee it can be done. I also wonder what will happen to us EP1 towns after a lot of the Avatars move to the new lands but that is another post.
nevermind i see the answer in your post
I would like to see as many things on the map as possible to make a comfortable decision. Town locations, boats, adventure zones, connection points to the old lands etc.
equal? so your tiny $500 compares to the $7500 already spent on the municipality I own, that is near the bottom of the list?
@Elgarion, How exactly are island POTs to be handled?
Yes I have an Island Pot as well currently?
Also , will this mean my town is going to finally placed on the map?
Who deserves a higher priority is a subjective point of view, though. Order of purchase eliminates this.
Just a general point of feedback - it seems a bit early for this as a big part of where you'd want to go has to do with what's available nearby - proximity and convenience of npc towns, trainers, adventure scenes, etc. As of now there's no scenes of any sort on the new landmass and as a result, no information on which to make a decision. Where will the connection points be between these lands and the old lands? Where will adventure scenes be? What difficulties? Where will the central NPC hub(s) be? And so on. It just seems premature?
Without knowing where the adventure scenes and npc towns are going to be you might as well throw a dart at the map.
Also, is work going to stop on developing the map until all the spots have been selected? If someone towards the bottom of the list happens to be able to pick a spot the same week that the shiny new mine gets added people will rage.
