The worst is when you go out of combat mode to double click a chest only to find out that it's a chest mimic.

For crates and barrels, if I am going to go into combat mode to open them, they should be susceptible to weapons that hit multiple targets at once and AOE spells, like they used to be long ago. Doing the punch animation for breaking them each individually and then waiting for the cooldown is incredibly tedious for a rather small reward.

    100% agreed. this bandaid sucks.

perfect solution. but, why even have it magically unlocked? its flippin chest. lock it and let the boss hold that daggone key.

this fix does not prevent this. all it prevents is doing it solo. send 1 person, the tankier the better, in first to grab teh enemies and run. then let 1 or 2 others jump back there and loot the chests.

Once you kill the boss once you'd have a key where you could just run in and do what they don't want you to do. Having an onDeath trigger does let them do things other than unlock a chest when a boss is defeated.

Even without keys, treasure chests could be locked and require lockpicking to open them. Lockpicking could take time similar to gathering resources like ore. When attacked while mining ore the gathering is interrupted. Treasure chests could use the exact same mechanic.

If we're going to add droppable keys or lockpicking or some sort of mechanic where it takes longer to open a chest or box...
Can we please make sure something decent is in them?

Taking the time to break a crate, go out of combat, wait 10 sec, then loot it, to get a single wood scrap or piece of broken gear, is super annoying ^^

I do like the idea of 'boss drops the key' or 'box is locked til boss is dead' though. But it wont solve all the random crates etc. unless the plan is to let those be looted in combat once more once the chest issue is resolved....
