EXP reduction in the Rise

    Why and also why do combat changes rarely make it into the patch notes? Making things more challenging is fine, but removing the exp incentive makes zero sense. Is the goal to just force everyone to play in 7 person party mode? The most disappointing release to date.

    Xp balance was not specific to The Rise. There were many issues of imbalance with creatures. We had some mages with 900 hps and fighters with 4000 hps worth the same xp. Some level 30 mages had more health that level 50 mages. This primarily affected the highest tiered humanoid creatures. Gold and artifacts drops were increased across the board for these creatures.

    Maybe it depends on the type of the player, but quite frankly the 900 HP mages were a lot harder to kill than the 4k fighters for me (as ranged). I can just outrun fighters endlessly while wearing them down. Mages, not so much. And the death spells of mages are nasty. The changes have made the rise useless to me as a solo player, which is unfortunate because it essentially ends the one zone that was worth XPing in at all.

    Am I right in obvserving though, that the r58 mages have 1,400 Hp and gives 8k or so EXP solo, where r57 mages gave 14k exp solo? Balance or no, that is almost a 50% reduction?

    My recollection was 12k solo, but yes, 500 more hit points (33% increase) and a 33% (12k->8k) or greater loss in XP. And more damage done, etc.

    Yeah I was sure it was a loss. I have had people tell me in stream they do not attenuate now compared to r57 when doing their rise runs.

    This balance pass makes the Rise much more difficult. Mages are tough and I feel like I am hitting them with a two handed pillow. I lost 5 months of progression. Feel like a newbie Rise crawler again. I am running for my life again.


    EDIT: I am not complaining. I have not played enough tonight to figure out if it is appropriate. EXP seems a bit slower. Killing has slowed down. Fights are more dynamic. I am not panicking yet.

    They've already stated they're going to look deeper into the changes as it seems they went too far overboard.

    It was in the #general channel on Discord today when I brought up the changes to the Rise with Atos.

    Just remember though, how the fixes work … there not gonna be fixed tell next release.
