[Expected] Launcher crashes while updating display driver

Started updating my nvidia graphics driver while I was waiting on the patch process. However, the launcher apparently has a problem with this, as it ended up dying with the following error part way through:

Switching to resolution 2400x1500 failed, trying lower one
All resolution switches have failed
Screen: could not switch resolution (2402x1509 fs=0 hz=60)

 

You were updating your graphics driver while patching to get this to occur? >.>

Are you able to reproduce this?

 

Well... I'd have to be able to coordinate a new SOTA release and a new graphics driver release.... So no, can't reproduce so far.

 

This would make sense. The launcher is actually a Unity application that uses 3d graphics acceleration just like the game. Can't imagine it would enjoy the drivers changing out from under it while running...

 

Yeah, it did fine initially when the driver was removed (resized to a very large window), but after the driver was restored is when it blew up.

 

Behaving somewhat as expected then... would not advise updating drivers while installing/patching game clients.
