Faster D/l of patch?

If you're still getting slow download times, please try restarting the game client and let us know if that does the trick.

 

480 to 481 was 3.71 gigs 483 to 484 was only 100 k

 

I have reinstalled (repaired) the client which reinstalls the patcher (and restarted) multiple times. Restarts from where it left off usually with a slow burst of activity which gets slower over time. Still on 480 - 481 after 25- 26 hours. Now at 61%

 

Mine just finished fully patched to 484 (I think it was) and ready to play
According to my Time stamps... Yesterday was a complete wash, but today it was fixed!!!

This is just downloading 1 block of data every five to twenty seconds currently. As the patcher is averaging the data download over the last 10 seconds or so, you see the rate increase from 0 to 170KB/s and then slowly decrease to 0 again until the next block downloads.

 

How big are the data packets?

 

480 > 481 3.71 gb
481 > 482 166 mb
482 > 483 94.2 mb
483 > 484 98.7 mb

No...what I meant was the size of the blocks of data in the network packets? I am currently loading them slower than I could type them on a teletype. This is 2016 not 1946....

 

Someone did something. My data rate is not now dropping to zero for minutes at a time. It is now varying between 20 and 100KB/s...so I am at least getting dial-up modem rates.
.......I still miss the little tune as the dial-up modem connected. Maybe you should add that as an audio FX while connecting with the launcher.....

After more than 30 hours, the download of the patch 480 was still at 71%. So I've finally downloaded it using µTorrent instead, and the download completed after 5 minutes at 12 MB/s.

 

To confirm, some of you are seeing slow download rates even after restarting the client?

 

Even after repeatedly restarting. Something has changed I am now seeing quite constant activity, but only occationally now over 170KB/s. 32 hours and now at 71%.

 

I was getting massively throttled here in Shanghai. Been trying for close to 33hrs.... finally almost there. I can do 400kb/s - when its allowed

 

When you report here slow download speeds, can you also report the typical rate it seems to be downloading.

 

Extremely slow (20-40Kbps). I ended up doing the switch-over to torrent and copy back. Now it looks like the patcher might be hanging up on patching resources.assets. I'm hoping it is just slow because it likes to restart downloads when it fails...

 

I was getting between 80k and 210k, which while faster, still was slow when attempting to download patch 481, which was over 4GB.

 

I downloaded at ~4MBps / (35Mbps to be exact on what my network port showed)

Also, steam is downloading around 11.3-11.6MBps ( 92.8Mbps ... guessing I am on a circuit somewhere that has a 100Mbps port blocking me... I've broken 12MBps with microsoft so it's not on my end! )

 

I have been trying to download on a poor connection, and experienced the 0 to 100K speeds.
Now I switched to a better connection and have good speed, 1 to 2MB.
Either Port fixed something or the quality of my connection played a big big role.

 

It's been about 24 hours since I first tried to download this. Still getting 300-400 kb/s (got 7mb/s earlier) and it's really not good. Another full night of patching? As last night I let it go while I slept only to wake up and find that the patch never finished and gave a "packet loss" type of error.

It's been a LONG time since I had these kinds of issues downloading a patch... I think I'd have to go back to the launch of the EQ expansion RoK, in which I didn't even DL it until a week after release, and even then it took three days to get the full patch. SotA is about to surpass that horrible benchmark

 

I've done this so many times I'm not doing it again. Absolutely no change in DL speeds.
