One thing I really enjoyed doing while playing the Pre-Alpha R2 was putting the camera as far back as it would go and turning it into an 'isometric' style game. It worked quite well, smoothly zooming in as I entered a building, where I would then move down to view from behind rather than from above.

    Here's what I mean:

So my question to the Dev's is: Can we allow the camera to do back a bit further to enhance this isometric experience? It took me back to playing Ultima 7 :)

Not a must do, but if it is easy, and there are others out there who enjoy this view, then great!
p.s. Try jumping fences while in this top-down view... lots of fun. :)

This is the most comfortable way of playing a game. This is how UO was. This is how Diablo is. I enjoy this view by far the best and would totally support it.

I love it :). Perhaps a preset option of sorts, that aligns your camera automatically to that specific angle :D

    I agree, I have a strong preference for a 3D isometric view.

I think this improves the clarity and maneuverability of the game.

I'd really rather not see this. So much more immersion to first person / 3rd person over the shoulder.

How would you talk to the vendors who are standing below the awnings in the above pic? I like isometric... but the game would have to be redesigned a bit, or enhanced somehow, to make it work properly.

So, how would adding an option take away your immersion?

Because it changes the paradigm for the controls for moment, targeting, combat, etc. I can now see stuff behind me or around walls in an unnatural way which changes tactics massively. I understand that WoW style raiding likes this view for "stack on square", "dont stand it fire." But we don't have this. So let us feel the character.

This would force changes in the presentation and placement of things to facilitate this type of view; in essence mandating a redesign of the interface.

I don't see why allowing the camera to be pulled back a little further would require a redesign. You have a choice to go in and out, so you don't have to use it if you don't like it. They are designing the game in 3 dimensions after all.

Its not like they are adding jumping to where you can get to unintended places.... oh wait... :)

I would have preferred a total isometric designed view but if we can't have that then just being able to pull the camera out farther than you can now would be a nice option.

Hahaha this one almost made me break out in tears, lmao. Indeed jumping will turn out to be a challenge but it is also a lot of fun!

My point is that I was actually playing it like that, and it function fine - that is a real screen shot. You can talk to people.

I'd just like to be able to zoom back a further giving a more playable 'top down' experience.
