Feedback - Loot/Kill stealing

    Hi,

    So yesterday we (party) have been hunting reapers and some player kept on stealing our kill in combination with our loot. At the end we just went in the settings and chose party online mode. But this is not the option we need to use to fix that issue really.

    Please add mob locking to first hit or something. The current system is not working out.

    there IS a temporary lock. i think it's on most damage done. if it were first hit, people would go around tagging everything in a zone and not killing them and then letting other people do all the later work and stand there wondering why they couldn't loot.

    Then put 1st hit on a 15 second timer, and reset it if original 1st hitter doesn't hit it again.
    That would preclude the "people would go around tagging everything in a zone " concept.

    they thought about this and also killing blow but I do not believe either of these made it in or one did but I have been "hijacked" also end result just leave multi player

    Yeah Killing Blow gets the loot, figured it out :(

    Well then the system is not working correctly. As we were hitting damaging the reapers like 90% of the time. That guy came in, killed shot it and took the loot.
    I am sure that he did not do more damage as we did in the party.

    This is sad for me to hear because one impressive thing I have felt about this game is that I have run into very very little kill steeling (which was a massive problem in almost every mmo I have played in including DAOC, Wow and EQ).

    In 2.5 years I can only think of one or two times someone purposely stepped in and hit a mob to try to take it from me. But this game has the strongest community I have ever seen and most people have been kept in check with the fact that a bad rep here usually makes your life hard here.

    There were three of us, and only one of him. And he didn't come in till late. Hard to believe he could have out-damaged us. First time I've seen this kind of behavior in SOTA. It was disappointing.

    Actually, I'm pretty sure you just have to be the last one to damage the mob, resulting in its death... there is no mechanism in place to prevent kill stealing.

    Seems like a bug. Usually the person/group who does the most damage get priority in looting.

    Can you report this at the bug session here giving the details please?

    It never worked that way. It has always been whoever got the killing blow. If you're having issues with kill stealing them that's what the Party and Private modes are for.

    And that defeats the point of "multi-player", does it not?

    But in that Party mode, you're hidden from other players. New players are already saying that our world is under-populated. Having a game mechanic that encourages that perception is unfortunate.

    Cyber bullies took our kills.

    I had a killstealer steal a multi spawn on me before. He was stronger so I suppose he deserved it.

    I still cry myself to sleep at night thinking about it.

    If they implement something to prevent kill stealing they would need to treat the party as an individual entity. With Coup de grace working at 30% with specialization I can generate a hard enough hit to get all of that 30% on a reaper if I use a 6 charge attack and I am not at the top of the heap among the players by far. So if I timed it right I might be able to steal a kill even if they gave it to the person with the highest damage. If treat the party as an individual for that situation, the party would just have to score greater than 50% to get the kill.

    It was probably the same guy who can solo dragons... double click him and take a screenshot of his health bars next time. if you see 200+ GMs, you probably got James Holiday "Anorak" impersonate, or at this point, it's probably Parzival.

    Why would anybody who can solo dragons bother stealing other people's kills? Just because he can?

    it does treat the party as an individual. there've been several times when my party disbanded between my killing something and my looting it, and when that happens i have to wait for the timer to free it to loot because it's bound to the party that doesn't exist anymore.
