While I may not be Novia's greatest trader, I consider myself one of the more active traders in the game, as I have vendors in 7 different locations.

That being said, I am constantly frustrated by my vendors sitting despite my activity. Because vendors sit after not listing something new in 2 weeks, I find myself constantly de-listing and relisting items for the same price just to keep them standing. This happens even though people are consistently purchasing items.

    My suggestions:

    1. Increase the time limit of when a vendor sits from 2 weeks to 4.
    2. If someone buys something from the vendor, RESET the counter.
    3. Send an in game mail when a vendor sits.

Anyone else have any suggestions? I agree with the general principal, but these few tweeks would make it a lot less painful.

i'd like a visual difference between vendors that haven't been touched in a while but still might have something i want to see and vendors that actually have no listings.

    Unfortunately no.

Perhaps name goes grey if no recent listings, vendor sits down if nothing listed at all?

Or don't make a vendor sit at all. It really is irritating. Especially vendors behind a fence or counter. Then you can't see them. Oh yeah only sits if empty is a great idea. ;).

I like that vendors sit when they haven't been 'maintained' … having them 'reset' when someone buys something doesn't really make sense, since them sitting means that the vendor hasn't been restocked recently.. it's not about their sales activity.

Curious what do you mean by 'maintained'? I can list 200 items at at cost prices (no profit for me), and because the economy isn't exactly booming, within two weeks I would have no need to restock. Why should I arbitrarily delist and relist just to have my vendor be considered 'maintained'?

Don't their names grey out when they're empty? Or did that stop?

If a vendor doesn't have an item with a list date within the last two weeks, their name will grey out and the will sit down. Which would include a vendor with nothing listed.

I understand that it's not a perfect system. Also, I've had to de-list some items and re-list as well due to this. I run a shoppe as well, but I am against selling items at cost. I think it's bad for the economy and bad for customer expectations in general. I'm not against giving people stuff when I see them in-person though.

What way do you think would work better at allowing possible customers who are walking by to get a visual cue of a 'maintained' vendor?

Huh. I thought they only greyed out when they were empty, and sat when they haven't had a new listing in two weeks. I could swear I recall standing vendors with greyed names. But I guess I'm wrong.

    Hmmm.

If the vendor has had no activity for 2 weeks, then i consider it inactive. 2 weeks is a long time without a single sale or item added.

Even with 7 vendor locations it would be minimal effort to relist ONE item per vendor.

no, just placed a new vendor next to my current one to test. he immediately sat down, but it actually looks like his name is bolder than the stocked one.

    edit: and bugged.

These issues were already addressed as bugs. They were pointed out more than a few times when they implemented vendors sitting down.
They are on the list to fix.

Correct me if I'm wrong, and this may have changed. A vendor will sit if nothing in the inventory is less than 2 weeks old. This means that if someone buys all the new stuff then even if you restocked yesterday your vendor will sit if there are no new things in inventory.

To avoid this situation I always have one thing that no one will buy and merely delist/relist the Wheat Bun for 100g.

Yes, the name on an empty merchant turns gray instead of white.

I honestly think there should be a couple different Modes a vendor could have. (Should be an easy thing as we have the emotes now)

Current Listings.... Waves Hands beckoning you
No Current Sales or Listing.... Kneeling down
No Items listed ...... Sitting Vendor

Or have the vendor sit when empty. that would be the best of all worlds.

Yeah, if they have nothing on them, they should just sit.
