Feeling lost but intrigued

Played Ultima I and II ages ago (guess my age), played many other games since then but never got into UO. Went deep with another MMO called Darkfall Online and miss what it could of really been. I've been looking for another game like it for years. Heard Lord British on a local radio show debunking a Flat Earther and he mentioned Shroud or the Avatar so i jumped in and bought the signed box version, this has promise but I feel so lost at times but again still intrigued by what i've seen in the past week of playing.

I am guessing you are about the same age as me . I to started with UII and replayed UIII so many times and found new stuff every time I played. My in game name is Warrior B'Patrick, please add me and anyone else that offers to friend you. We are not always on (I am 8 hours ahead or east coast time) so the more friends to better chance at some help. Also many people will offer you a free room or house to stay in and free starter armor and weapons. Don't be afraid to ask. There are so many things to know to play the game well but the fun for me is in learning these things and then using them. @Steevodeevo has given you some great links and it is worth the time visiting the links as it will save you the confusion and frustration. Either way be sure to ask for help, explore all you can, and have fun.

Hi there. Don't feel like the lone ranger in being lost. When I first started playing like I dunno 4 years ago I wandered around lost for nearly a week and the game state was much different that it is now hehehe. The good news is there is always new stuff each release so its a constant learning process.

Lost is not abnormal at the start. Imagine if you were suddenly dropped into a big city in the RL, with no direction, and no idea how to do anything. You'd be lost for a while.

Fortunately you won't starve or freeze to death here, so you have time to figure it out.

I do recommend finding some people you can ask questions of in game though. You can send me questions, Vladamir Begemot, and friend me. I'm always open to give some advice.

Since you're fishing, you're probably going to be very excited about the massive fishing update that happens on the 25th. Here is a video, go about half way in. Here is the printed update.

I get it back, when I decide to enter all those places I never visited (because of death decay ...) before
