Forced Connection Exploits

For once, not an assumption..

From reading this Valor KNEW he forced someone into combat who was afk as he mentioned.. so the real question is this an exploit (not really imo) or just a faulty by design topic.

 

Is there a good reason behind forced rez'ng ? Would think a timeout if neccisarry would bump u too world map?

 

I think it is relict from the days there were no ankhs in scenes. I think that forced rez to map after 5,10,15? minutes as ghost would be much better solution.

 

Hey look we solved the afk pvp killing problem! That was difficult.

There are still a few places where, if you get there as a ghost, you cannot get out to get to an ankh. One existing place is some of the pools in Brittany Sewers. If you fall in them as a ghost you can't get out because the only way out is a latter, which ghosts can't interact with. If you don't have a living person with res in your party, your only options are to either wait it out or just log out.

I'm sure there are others, but I don't know them off hand.

That said, just making the res optional should (like it lights up a "click here to res" button) should fix the issue.

If R37, is there any chance I'll be able to reliably walk in a straight line after this patch?

 

Valor, if you ever find me afk having somehow inexplicably wandered off the overland map while I am flagged and I am standing in the woods suffering from amnesia for over an hour you may steal my stuff and kill me. Check my pockets for bad herbs.

Forced connections exploits literaly means exactly that. Altering/playing with your internet connection in a way to gain an advantage, typicaly for pvp and pickpocketing. This issue is old and has existed for over 20 years in the gaming industry. Bonne chance

 

I like to think each character is part Canadian, and walking in a straight line, simply isnt in our nature.

Pretty sure my first (and only serious response on the main topic) is accurate. Won't know for sure unless those in power divulge that information. Open to other possibilities/entertaining other ideas though.

 

That is true, you were spot on. Ya, was doing it at Merc and mine wedding lol We would all cast illyisium illumination, was laggy as heck. I believe I first learned of this at the Christmas Holiday when Lord British spamed it
