Ring of Fire... Lightning Storm... Unicorns... The mere mention of these can cause players to curl up in a ball and scream. If you are one of those players whose PC performance suffers or are deeply affected mentally by the FX from these then this addon is for you NOTE: This addon blocks both your FX and the FX generated by other players. The block is only from your perspective and other players will see their own FX as well as your FX. Full documentation (install steps, every window, and the full command reference) is available here: https://shroudoftheavatar.tools/lua/fxstop-documentation.html Utilizing this addon you can stop the FX from occurring for the following: Ring of Fire Fireball Lightning Storm Ice Field Meteor Storm Cone of Cold Solar Flare Earthquake Unicorn Rainbow (also stops THE sound) Nightmare Flame Soothing Rain Night Vision New: In-Game Management Window - new 2026-07-25 Once enabled, a small tray icon appears in-game - this is home base for the addon. Click the icon to open the "FX Stop" window: a scrollable list of every skill above, each with an Allowed/Blocked toggle, a Debug Level button for troubleshooting, and a quick usage hint right above the list. Clicking the icon in the tray's own title bar toggles every effect on the list on or off at once - handy before a big group fight if you want everything quiet, then back on afterward with a single click. Like my other addons, every window shares a font-size control (the number in the title bar) so you can size the text to your liking. This addon is fully functional both from the window above and from the command line. Stop/Allow of individual FX (and more) is also available via a simple command syntax entered in the local chat dialog. The command syntax is as follows: !fxstop <command> <parameter> Core Command List help - shows the list of available commands ex. !fxstop help list - this command lists the available FX to stop and their current block status ex. !fxstop list stop <fx-key> - this command stops the FX with the passed key from being created by the game. you can get the fx-key from the list command. ex. !fxstop stop ringOfFire allow <fx-key> - this command allows the FX with the passed key to be created by the game. you can get the fx-key from the list command. ex. !fxstop allow ringOfFire debug <level> - this command sets the debug logging level (0, 1, or 2) - higher levels print extra chat messages whenever an FX is played or stopped, useful for troubleshooting. Level 0 is the default and is silent. ex. !fxstop debug 1 Getting Started To get started you will need to install the FXS addon through the Commmunity Addons UI in-game and then check the run/enabled checkbox. Usage All commands should be entered in the local chat. To do so use /l in the chat to enter local chat channel. You can try out your first command with: !fxstop list By default all FX are allowed. To stop Lightning Storm from being played use the command: !fxstop stop lightningStorm You should see a message in the chat log that the block has been enabled. External dependencies - new 2026-07-25 This addon makes use of my SotA Event System (SES) addon and a shared windowing system (SWS), both included as part of the addon distribution - no separate installation required.
Update List v0.09 - Update - 2026-07-27 A small maintenance release - updated the bundled libraries to their latest versions v0.08 - Update - 2026-07-25 Fixed a bug where scrolling down the FX Stop list and toggling a skill's Allowed/Blocked status would snap the list back to the top instead of staying where you were scrolled - it now stays put. The list also now shows friendly skill names (e.g. "Lightning Storm") instead of the raw internal key, and there's a short usage hint above the list. The tray icon no longer auto-collapses on a fresh install - it now starts expanded. v0.07 - Major Update - 2026-07-24 This release adds an in-game management window, built on the same shared windowing system (SWS) used by several of my other addons - a small tray icon and a scrollable "FX Stop" list, so you no longer need to memorize commands or fx-keys to stop/allow an effect. The chat commands below are all still fully supported for anyone who prefers them. See the new section below for details. 2022-11-05 v0.03 - Converted use of true/false in the ini file to use 0/1. Added debug level command to show debug output. 2022-11-05 v0.02 - Initial Release.

And I hoped you meant the sounds like the gargling noise when skinning an animal (my character is a woodsman. A ranger. A hunter. It´s his daily job and nothing that makes him throw up. If that is a thing why is not the stench of tannistry or colouring textiles simulated that drove those crafts to be in their own streets usually distant from the nobler parts of cities...). Or the sound some guards make when they sneak up on you from behind, salute and seem to clear their throat repeatedly so that it appears as if a monster had stalked you from behind for a moment...
greetings and thank you for the feedback it most certainly could! i just need to see if those are able to be stopped and add them in let me test it out and see.
@Tirrag Is this add-on currently functioning properly ? If so, you might consider removing from the OP :

What's Next for POIS, BMS, FXStop & SES — Chaos Release & the Community Addons Store Greetings! Chaos releases tomorrow, October 1st, and I wanted to give you a heads-up on what's changing for my addons (POIS, BMS, FXStop, and SES) and what you'll need to do on your end. 1. They're moving to the Community Addons Store Starting with Chaos, my addons will be installed and updated through the in-game Community Addons store instead of manually. This makes things much easier going forward. 2. Back up your Lua folder first Before you do anything else on release day, back up your entire Lua folder. This is just a safety net in case anything doesn't go smoothly during the transition — better to have a copy and not need it. 3. Remove your existing addons first Chaos may carry your currently-installed versions of these addons over into the new build automatically. Before installing anything new, remove those old copies from your Lua folder so they don't conflict with the fresh versions from the Community Addons store. 4. Install SES, then your addon(s) — and enable them Chaos does not install these for you — you'll need to install them yourself through the Community Addons store. SES (Sota Event System) is a shared dependency the other addons rely on, so install it first, then install whichever of our addons you use (POIS, BMS, FXStop). Installing an addon doesn't automatically turn it on — after installing, you'll need to go enable it as well. 5. Bringing your settings forward Both POIS and BMS support importing your existing settings, so you don't lose your points of interest or buff/monitor configurations. POIS: Copy your old pois/user.ini file into the new POIS install's pois folder. The next time it loads, POIS will automatically import your points and settings, then rename the file to user.ini.imported so it won't be re-imported. If you already have a point with the same name, it won't be duplicated. BMS: Same idea, using user.ini and monitors.ini. Copy both files into the new BMS install's folder, and on load it will import your settings and monitors automatically, renaming each file to .imported when done. 6. Steps, in order Back up your whole Lua folder. Remove any old copies of my addons from your Lua folder. This include the main lua file in the root lua directory and the corresponding lua subfolder. Install SES from the Community Addons store, then enable it. Install whichever of my addons you use (POIS, BMS, FXStop) from the Community Addons store, then enable each one. If you use POIS and/or BMS, copy your old user.ini (and monitors.ini for BMS) from your backup into the new addon folders. Reload Lua (or restart) and confirm your points/monitors came through. I'll be keeping an eye on these threads so if anything comes up during the transition, post here and I'll help sort it out. Thanks for using my addons!
