    I just got home from a guild conference excited about playing SOTA. While my computer is not top-of-the-line, it is still a decent gaming computer. I can play for about five to ten minutes and then...freeze frame! A little circle whirls at my cursor point but even if I walk away for 20 minutes, it is still frozen when I come back to my computer. If I ctrl-alt--del twice I get a pop-up saying SOTA is not responding and do I want to shut down the program or wait longer.

    I've updated the drivers on my 2 video cards (AMD Radeon HD 5800). I've done a speed check on the internet: 120.30 mbps download and 6.03 upload, latency 19 ms.

    Computer specs:
    Processor = Intel Core i7 CPU 920@2.67 GHz 2.66 GHz
    RAM = 16.0 GB
    Hard drive = 500 GB with 300 GB free
    System Type = 64-bit Operating System x64-based processor
    OS = Windows 10
    Video Cards = 2 x AMD Radeon HD 5800

    I cannot figure why this computer should be having a problem with this game and I'm hoping someone from Polarium can suggest a solution.

    Also got this info on my system:

    Well that sucks! Would someone please point me to a listing of video cards that are officially supported by SOTA?

    I am happy with my GTX 970 single card. I run two monitors, card is capable of four.
    This is not a "latest and greatest" card, but was within my price range and works pretty well.

    The rest of my gaming rig is a 2008 era Dell server, so you can see that I am not only thrifty (cheap) but have managed to make it work.

    Also check to see that you are using DX 11

    <From forum announcement>

    We’ve had some challenges ensuring stability when supporting all of the DirectX (DX) features that the game employs. A key roadblock is supporting legacy versions of DX. Because these problems continue to hinder development, starting in Release 42, we will be discontinuing support for DX 9. DX 11 will continue to be the core version. We are also looking into the possibility of eventually DX 12 support.

    This update most likely will not affect any of you. If you have a system that runs old operating systems like Windows 98 (DX9), or video cards that do not support DX11+ at all, then the game is not going to run well (or likely at all) anyway. If you wish to still play, we highly recommend upgrading your system to support a DX11+ video card and operating system. The game’s minimum system requirements, listed in the website FAQ, will be updated upon Release 42 going live.
