Since the stances are all mutually exclusive, it would make sense for them to be toggles.

    1. Stances, Shields and long term buffs like Air's Embrace are all good candidates for toggle. They do not need a focus drain.

    2. Something else not mentioned with Buffs - The character nameplate

You can have 2+ rows of buffs which is quite frankly ridiculous.

The nameplate should be clear and easy to see at a quick glance what buffs your opponent has and there should be skills / tactics that allow you to react accordingly.

    Examples

Removing an opponents Hots (Heal over time spells)
Group combat scenarios when opponents change rapidly and you do not have time to sift through 20 buff icons
Stopping DPS and quickly Changing tactics because your opponent just casted all his best defensive buffs

Obsidian pots, devotionals, etc etc should not be on the nameplate. It should be a short list relevant to combat.

There are also many important skills missing from our avatars arsenal.

    3. Crit damage. Changing polearms is not going to fix a major flaw in our overall combat design.

Many base skills have a large damage range.
On top of that you can crit which extends the range.
On top of that you can stack up to 6 x which further increases the range.

What that means is that damage is all over the place.

This "It will average out" system is useless for short term combat engagements and fun tactical combat.

You need reliable burst damage, decision-making on when to apply it, skills to interrupt or mitigate it, etc etc.

I would also like to point this out.

So next release or whenever we are going to have changes to Dex and whatever else.

    What does this mean?

Another round of needing new gear, changing your character build, disgruntled players that don't like the changes, etc etc

Wtf did we just do this month? Added a respec book to bring ppl back because they got tired of it. Errr......... lol ?

Are these new changes and the ones that follow likely going to see a big increase in the overall combat feedback?

How likely is it we are going to have to repeatedly continue the same thing release after release ?

    I will say it again.

You take a month or 2 to redesign the base system.

Follow that by likely a couple months worth of ridiculously overpowered and unbalanced skills while things get ironed out. Who cares?

At least in the end there's a much higher likelihood of having a significantly improved combat system.

The focus should be on having a reasonably completed system by episode 2 when there will likely be a push to bring in new players.

Not episode 2 arrives and a whole new batch of players get to experience our monthly combat overhauls.
