    You say po-TAY-toe... :)
No matter, we all serve in our own manner, and as I've said, I find myself increasingly appreciative of the outcome regardless of the root cause.

Ah, thanks! Like that last one, very nice.

Not sure if it's within the rules here, but would it be possible to have the lizard be vert (light green) and fimbriated (bordered) viridian (dark green)?

Sorry, Iggy, that would not be within the rules (it would be "color" on "color") It could be fimbriated with a metal (or, argent, or copper) or a neutral (like sable).

I was playing around to see what is possible...and I tested a chameleon instead of a lizard... ;) Awesome, but a bit hard to make out.

    I love it!
I wonder if a counterchanged lizard would pass the vote?
Hmmm... Checky argent and sable, a lizard tergiant counterchanged.

No, that would not be color on color.

Finbriation of a colored charged with a color is non-traditional, but allowed by the SotA College of Arms. The color on color rule would be violated if the field beneath the charge were of a color. As the field is half metal and half color, the viridian fimbriation would no more be color on color than the very lizard.

I also like it more than the vert version... A very talented chameleon. ;)
Why would it not pass a vote? It's a proper, though a bit extreme, counterCHANGE.

Oddly, one thing that might help with either the vert, viridian, or counterchanged version, is if the lizard were actually a bit more... turgent. :)

That actually does help a bit with the visibility, but it looks... cartoony to me.

Indeed...that could be my artwork, too. My abilities are a little more Looney Toons than Cistine Chapel. :D

OK, that seems to work out well enough (not sure what else can be done to make something stand out on a checkered background, and I don't mind cartoony). Only things that needs to be done now is for the entire image to be reversed and I'm good to go (top right square should be black, and I'm thinking the lizard should be "Z" shaped instead of "S" shaped). So thanks Thunderbird for drawing it up and everyone else for helping!:)

As for the "chameleon" idea, I'll have to pass as it's too awesome for my brain to comprehend. ;)

INB4 I tried out the reverse of the colors in paint (dark green base, light green border), and it looked good but too much of a "neon sign" look to put on a shield for use in medieval combat.

I am not quite picturing a 'Z' shaped lizard...that being said, that lizard is just hand drawn and for testing purposes only. It is in no way accepted by the College of Arms (after you accept my artwork, I forward it to the CoA for acceptance or rejection). If you would like me to redo it, that is fine, but I need a better idea of what you would like. If you can find an image to link here that looks more like what you have in mind, I will gladly have another go at drawing it. :D

Edit...I actually just realized that you might mean literally reverse the image i.e. flip it horizontally, which I can do easily enough...

You may well not have that level of control with the Builder.

    Fair Warning.

Lizard in right orientation, checkers are still reversed (black on right, white on left), but yeah that's what I meant. And yeah I know the builder is more limited, I was just going with what orientation looks best in my avatar image. Admittedly I'm getting nit-picky at this point; the first image fits the description. Speaking of which, I'm guessing the following is what it is now with the bordering:

a sheild blazoned chequy of eight tracts argent and sable, a vert lizard tergiant fimbriated viridian

In terms of symbolism, as long as I'm represented with a chessboard and a reptile, I'm fine. I suppose I could get more complicated with other items and patterns, but for now I'm following the idea of keeping things simple.

And once again thanks for this. Love how something like The College of Arms can be integrated into a game and community like here.
