Gold Crowns of the Obsidians

I love my gems in GW2 and I am gonna love these gold crowns.

 

So now all of the durability changes can be avoided by spending real money. This feels very pay to win.

I was in favor of the durability changes, but adding this to them feels very wrong.

 

Is the plan that the gold coins will remain exchangable for all the the other metal types? or is that a temporary thing

Well, I was going to melt down some items and get an ancestor account during the summer telethon. Guess I'll be getting a viking row home instead!

 

Darkstarr, as a fan I love the viking row lots, but as a POT owner that wants a particular theme, I'd like the ability to select which types of lots are allowed in my POT. Some just don't go together well.

Can we please get this functionality?

 

If you're trying to collect all the pets or all the cloaks in game, it seems odd to have to spend $250 on a property and game bundle to get it.

Though these new bundles should hopefully appeal to new players.

 

I know this is a long shot, but aside from finding them directly in the world from drops or harvesting are there currently any plans to allow forging them from Obsidian Chips (400:1) the way that Gems like Sapphire can be combined 400:1 from Sapphire Fragments? Even if it meant this was the lowest form/metal, and you needed to combine lower tiers of Crowns to get higher value metals, etc?

yes!

 

There are other monetization methods.

They could have only sold vanity items by making new vanity armor/clothing sets, pets, emotes, etc. But since there is no way to marry vanity items for appearance with the stats of other items, that is difficult. I've been calling for a transmute feature that would enable this, which would also be a gold sink in game.

They could have gone the Star Citizen approach of the completely optional subscription model that just gets you monthly vanity items.

Instead they went a route that does touch on P2W. I must say I'm a little disappointed.

@DarkStarr The 3-story and 4-story bundles have "Pick 4" and "Pick 6" options for Prosperity Tools and Obsidian Potions, but both say "Pick any two" in the descriptions. Just minor text, but thought it should be corrected.

 

What's on the other side of the coin?

You could work out an in-game trade with a player who perhaps is only interested in other parts o the bundle? Also as I mentioned we are considering smaller bundles of perhaps just the wearables and the pet but we are concerned that might devalue the bundle. Still evaluating.

 

I can buy into the model, can you confirm the crowns that drop in the game will be a very rare drop. Im actually cool with the store version people repairing gear will be funding the game though its gonna be a tight rope.

Q: will you sell those viking row houses seperate I have need of them but have already bought my pledges.
