    Hi everyone!

I decided that I am going to learn how to masterwork and enchant my armor/weapons/rings/necklaces. Thank you for joining me on this ride. If you are new to Masterworking and Enchanting then I hope you enjoy the information I have gathered and it helps you get started. Anyone can do it.

I have been refining this over and over for a few weeks whichi delayed me getting it posted sooner like I wanted.

I am prepared to spend a lot of hours mining/gathering, refining, making armor, and hope the RNG gods are with me. This is what every crafter you see goes through. It is easy - no. But will it have rewards of riches? In the end maybe I will be the one charging 1 million gold for that plate of awesomeness? Doubt it, but I will be able to at least make a nice set of armor for myself.

RNG usually means for me = Really Not dropping for Greagoir!

Let me take you on my journey as I have not found one great source of information for this. I found many different postings and asking in in-game chat. THANK YOU for everyone who shared with me your knowledge and answering my questions.

Starters - you will need these things

    - Skill Tree - unlock under these skills the Masterwork skill from any Crafting Trainer: Blacksmithing, Carpentry, and Tailoring. For alchemy unlock the Alchemy skill from any Crafting Trainer. Crafting Trainers are in the major NPC cities in the Crafting Pavilion.

    - Buy the three Masterworking recipes you need: go to Owl's Head Blacksmith, Carpentry, and Tailor NPC vendors. Owl's Head is a NPC town in the Hidden Vale. Recipes you need: Masterwork Blacksmithing Upgrade, Masterwork Carpentry Upgrade, and Masterwork Tailoring Upgrade.

Then buy the recipes for what you want to make:

    - Alchemy recipes are any scrolls (teleport), potions, gems, jewels, gem socketed.

    - Armor and weapon recipes plus component recipes like metal sheets, glass sheets, bindings, straps, rings, belts.

    - Skill learning items: Potion of Guidance +300% learning, Lost Vale memory fragment quest +50% learning, many foods including the Replenishing Confections Platter +25% skill learn, and more. I looked for food that gives skill learning boost, after 5 towns and 0 food I stopped looking and mined some more. (we need a vendor public global list)

Once you have all that you can begin.

Look at SotaWiki.net to see what goes into a piece of plate armor. A round shield consists of: Coal (bought from a crafting vendor in a town); Metal Sheet, Metal Binding, Cloth or leather strap,

Metal sheet = Smithing hammer, sheet mold, iron ingot x 3, chunk of coal.
Metal binding = Smithing hammer, iron ingot, chunk of coal.
Leather strap = Tanning knife, leather, curing salt.
Leather = Tanning knife, Animal hide x 2, curing salt

See how far down the rabbit hole goes? Each item has sub components and sub components that all boil up and make the piece of armor. Once you get this part, the rest is assembling them like a puzzle. This also means you need to gather ore, animal hides, coal, salt, creosote, etc. There is more and more.

Make sure you know how many bindings/sheets or straps/leather you need. Different kinds ginve

One you have the item made. Masterwork or Enchant first?

Magic school Attunement = Enchant the Imbued Gem first so the gem specific options will appear. Enchant 3 times, then masterwork 3 times. Then go back to enchant if needed, then masterwork. You will have to weigh how much durability is left vs power. Your success chance percent will go down each time you enchant or masterwork.

    Mage Staff/Wand = Attunement > spell damage /crit bonuses > Intelligence.

Archer = Arrow damage bonuses > weapon damage/crit bonuses > Dexterity

    Warrior = Attumement (if they use Earth/Gaiasm) > damage resist/avoid > Strength

Everything else = Masterwork first three times, if you fail miserbly toss item and remake to try over from the start. Then Enchant three times. Go back if you have a lot of durability left and high success percent chance left. You will have to weigh how much durability is left vs power. Your success chance percent will go down each time you enchant or masterwork.

What can affect this - prices of silver and gold can help you decide which to do first. if you are mining your own silver or ore then follow the three above scenarios.

If you want to make the best staff for a mage? Enchant for Imbued Attunement gem first, then enchant for arrow damage 4-5 times. Masterwork 4-5 times. This will give you the most power in that staff. BUT you need to have at least 140+ in all enchantments and masterworks to pull the RNG off.

How fast can you learn the skills - Masterworking

    Uses SILVER ingots.

That depends on often you use these tool - Skill learning items: Potion of Guidance +300% learning, Lost Vale memory fragment quest +50% learning, many foods including the Replenishing Confections Platter +25% skill learn, and more.

With 1,500 silver ore (aka 375 silver ingots) my masterworking with only 18 mill pooled xp, Potion of Guidance +300% learning, and store bought plate armor chests (8). I went from 0 to 100 in Blacksmith Masterwork, 0-68 in Masterwork Plate Armor, and Blacksmith Mastery and got that to 21. Not bad.

I am still using the 300% Potion of Guidance and got the 3-day Lost Vale +50% Skill Learning buff too. With 445 silver ingots and store bought plate armor chest/leggings. Blacksmith Masterwork still at 110, Masterwork Plate Armor at 110, and Blacksmith Mastery at 110.

So io get to level 110 you need a total of 420 silver ingots or 1,680 silver ore. This is as long as you use both Potion of Guidance +300% learning and the 3-day Lost Vale +50% Skill Learning buff. You mileage may vary.

To get to level 120 - I am estimating probally an additional 300 silver ingots. The higher the skill level goes the more silver ingots you will need.

Side Note - 365 silver ingots to get from Blade MW level 1 - 78.

When can you add more Bonus Effect options - Masterworking

At level 50 in blades mastewrorking I saw thrust +15% and rend +15% effects popping up. This is After I already has 100 in general masterworking.

Before I hit the level of 100 I had mostly Minor Effects.
At level 100 I could now add durability and the regular effects in addition to minor effects.

At level 108 I started to see Major Health popping up.

When do you get 100% chance to - Masterworking

Masterwork is at levels for Blacksmith Masterwork, Blacksmith Mastery, and the Plate Armor (or Blade, Shield, Chain) at level 110 in each. I was raising all three at the same time in conjunction.

I am guessing this is the same for the Caprentry Masterwork and Tailoring Masterwork skills. I will tackle carpentry and tailoring later.

How fast can you learn the skills - Enchanting

    Uses GOLD ingots.

That depends on often you use these tool - Skill learning items: Potion of Guidance +300% learning, Lost Vale memory fragment quest +50% learning, many foods including the Replenishing Confections Platter +25% skill learn, and more.

Same progress as Masterworking. I started Alchemy from day 1 so I was already at GM in the Alchemy and Enchanting skills already. So I don't have an exact number of gold ingots needed. My guess is it would be take the same number of silver ore/ingots needed in masterworking OR times two.

    XP needed - Enchanting
    Alchemy - to get to 100 = 1,212,424, to get to 120 = 8,157,124, to get to 150 = 142,338,507.
    Enchanting - to get to 100 = 1,212,424, to get to 120 = 8,157,124, to get to 150 = 142,338,507.
    Weapon Enchantment - to get to 100 = 2,424,848, to get to 120 = 16,314,248, to get to 150 = 284,677,014.
    Armor Enchantment - to get to 100 = 2,424,848, to get to 120 = 16,314,248, to get to 150 = 284,677,014.
    Alchemy Mastery - to get to 100 = 2,424,848, to get to 120 = 16,314,248, to get to 150 = 284,677,014.

When can you add more Bonus Effect options - Enchanting

At level 100 you see Major Strength/Dex/Int. Durable (armor Durability Effectiveness) also comes up.

When do you get 100% chance to - Enchanting

Masterwork is at levels for Enchantment, Alchemy, and the Armor Enchantment(or Weapon Enchantment) at level 110 in each. I was raising all three at the same time in conjunction.
