Sadly while I myself would dearly love to see a wide variety of hair styles (especially long) there is nothing simple about long hair in games. Not if you want them to look good. Otherwise as soon as your character looks up they'll have hair sticking out of their midsection.

The best I've seen is having the length below the neck more or less fixed to the shoulder's and back which causes stretching when the head animates.

I would settle for a modified Page Boy cut with fuller hair and whispy bangs. I hope this is simple enough to be accomplished.

 

The tech I believe is out there but I don't think it's to a point where it's easy or cheap to do. Small pieces of hair that are animated isn't so bad. It's just the really long bits. I imagine it's very similar to cloth but imagine trying to do it with multiple hairstyles that have to interact with cloaks or fall nicely over your shoulders... The big difference between cloth and hair of course is that our cloaks are one solid flat mesh. Hair you expect to have strands that animate individually. These days it's the stuff you'd only see in high budget pre-animated video. Kinda makes me want to save up and go to next year's GDC just to see what the latest tech is.

Still.. there are a lot of great looking styles they can still do.. and like clothes.. you can never have enough styles. I really hope they give us some more variety sooner than later.. priorities permitting.

 

I really can't stand pageboy. lol But I agree with the sentiment in general.. more hair styles would be a good thing.

 

Need long white hair/beard for mages. I get that it is tough to make it flow nice - but would be great to see a year or two down the road otherwise Bluefire is just gonna look .... well not like a mage.

 

I would appreciate an effort towards long hair, even if it began with say clipping issues or a "tied to the back effect" or such, just for the variety. It doesn't have to be perfect to start with, but I do understand there are difficulties with animating such things (thinking of the current cloth/cloak issues we are having ). But all that considered, bring on long hair too, even an imperfect reckless version

 

Well, how about long hair where each strand does not have to sway like blades of grass in the wind, but maybe lay on the back in a clump?

 

How about some new braids?

More hairstyles are needed. Slicked is the only "normal looking" hairstyle available for males and I don't really like it either. Bald is no longer shiny natural bald but shaved bald. I would like receding bald added. That should be easy enough. Sometimes when your hat disappears for a second it gives you that bald on top with hair on the sides look for an instance I want for my main character. Considering all the hairstyles available on Nexus for various games, the gaming community ought to be able to help you come up with some nice alternatives. Check out all the hairstyles available when making a new character in Oblivion, Skyrim (Elder Scrolls, Bethesda) or Dragon Age (EA). Being able to make your character look the way you want them to look is a very important aspect of any game. I spend 15-30 minutes designing my character's face and hair in a game with a good character customization system. I spend less than 5 minutes doing so in SotA,
