Just my very small bit of input for R31.. every time.. and I do mean EVERY time I look up in the sky.. day or night.. I see clouds.. always clouds.. I don't mean thick cloud cover can't see the stars clouds.. but just general getting in my way of a decent night sky screen shot clouds.

Doesn't seem to matter if I'm in an instance or on the map.. they're always there now. (Probably have been for awhile but I haven't needed to take screen shots in awhile either. )

Skies need to be clear once in awhile.. especially at night.

On a slightly related note a few releases ago when i returned from my sabbatical the weather system had just bene put in the game, it was the time of the storms that would decimate entire scenes leaving them looking like they had been attacked by an army of ax men. i wasn't happy as every time i logged in my garden was in pieces. However, the storms we got then were amazing, heavy rain, loud thunder claps and lightning. I used to leave the door open and watch it, and even though i knew it was coming the thunder claps when pronounced made me jump. It did seem to rain EVERY day that release, and although i loved the storms i wished for a little more sun and clear skies.
I mention it as since that release i have rarely seen/heard any storms, and the ones i have witnessed have been markedly tame in comparison. SO if the devs are listening, can we have more varied weather please for me and him ^^ :)

Just a quick comment on this. I agree, it shouldn't always be clouds. BUT I LOVE THE CLOUDS! Why? Because when it's a clear sky I can see those layers of rings around the sky and I hate that. When the clouds are there I can not see the layers (rings) and it's amazingly beautiful. So I just wanted to make that point before we remove all the clouds form the scenes that in my opinion are making the world look great in comparison to the way it was a few releases ago.

How funny! You may have heard, or noticed, that about 2 months ago some of the lighting effects just stopped, and the visuals got noticeably "flatter". Well, that should be fixed too!!! Silly us. Not noticing.

Yeah I wouldn't want the clouds to go away entirely. It's just the variety seems to be rather elusive lately.

Now that you mention it it does seem to rain a lot less lately? The last storm I saw was just a lot of wind and lightning.. not much rain.

Isn't the frequency of how much rain, cloud or whatever based on the seasonal system they got in place? If so, a couple of months per release isn't a good indication of how varied the weather is, right?

A full year in-game is only 2 weeks of real time. so in those 2 weeks any region should be seeing the full scope of weather currently in-game.

I had the impression that weeks represented seasons or months.

I believe that one real day = one in-game month.

Close.. each 'month' is 28 hours and that works out exactly as 2 weeks = 1 year in game.

I'm not sure exactly at which time the seasons change.. but then I've never cared to remember in real like either. :) But as it works out.. a season in game is 2 1/2 days. or 60 hours if you prefer.

Is there a dev post that explains all this?

Not one specifically for this.. it has been mentioned several times in hangouts and such but I couldn't link you to one. They're pretty adamant about the time scale though. Apparently it makes the math easy.

Yeah I proposed much longer years oh so long ago.. and would've liked a 2 hour day cycle but I don't expect the current time scale to change at all.

Have just had a most wonderful storm in Aerie which turned the day into night, heavy rain, winds that threw the trees all over, lightning and loud thunderclaps. I sat on the balcony and played my piano throughout. It finished with a most wonderful fog that clouded the area(new to me). Really was quite spectacular.
The pictures don't do it justice by far.
