The interior lighting needs much improvement. With ample decoration and interior lighting, the houses look absolutely great at night. But during the daytime, even with the interior lighting, the walls, floors, ceiling, etc. are still washed out.

There is not enough sunlight coming from outside to flood the house with a warm natural light on a bright sunny day for example. But on a cloudy rainy day, I'd expect the house to have a cold, gloomy feel. But as it stands, the natural lighting of the interiors don't convey any feeling. It's dull, bland, and boring to some extent.

There are windows though and I would expect at least a good amount of light to come through. But unfortunately, that is not the case. Take a look at the following screenshots.

Ok, so this one isn't too bad. The door is open and light is flooding through it. The sun isn't that high in the sky but the two windows on the left are barely letting any light through! Those aren't small windows either.

But now look at this one. The sun is high in the sky but look at that tiny amount of light coming through these really tall, although skinny, windows.

Now look at this screenshot. The sun is still high in the sky and we have three windows facing the same side, yet two of the windows don't have any light coming through it.

So when it's the "spit and shine" / "polish" stage of development, please take this into consideration:
    - Make more windows
    - Make existing windows bigger so more light comes through
    - Change the way the directional light coming from the sun to let even more light to flood through these windows. Perhaps the "cone" of light coming from the sun is simply way too narrow.

These are beautiful homes, so let's make them even better with better natural lighting. And if you can actually make the light bounce around once it comes through to light up the other surfaces, even better :)

Excellent post. I'd like to have shadows in the interior of buildings as well!
