I've been searching sites for recipes, but this game changes so often it's impossible for fan sites to keep updated. How do I make a wand?

You also need the recipe in your recipe book.

You can buy it on a vendor or if you are in game, message me and I can give it to you

I was under the impression that if you manually enter recipes it adds them to your recipe book as has been happening for me.

Some recipes you can add the materials manually and the recipe comes up, some do not however.

If I am remembering correctly, non- teachable ones will not show up, ever(?) Teachable ones will.

If you put ingredients on the table and craft button lights up, then you can discover that recipe.

Yes but my question was, how do I know if I find a recipe on the web, that it will work in game without obtaining the recipe in game first? From what I've gathered so far it appears that I can discover components, but not final product. Is there any justification for this?

Being able to discover a recipe also depends on your skill level, same as if you bought one, it will have the requirement - if it is green you can learn it, if it is red then you have to raise that skill first.

Carpentry is not too hard to raise - other than having enough XP to raise it, you can salvage wood weapons - wands, staffs and bows to raise the skill.

Also, if it is Re-teachable recipe you should be able to discover it.

Here is one to try - 1 wood scrap and the cubit tool on the milling table can turn into 1 wood pulp.

This has been a massive help. Do you know what to do with fabric scraps? The sotacraft wiki's recipe does not work.

no, doesn't look like it. it's in my book as reteachable, which means it should be discoverable. are you being careful to only put one recipe's worth in at a time?

Thre are three categories of recipes: (this also roughly applies to trading emotes)

Re-Teachable - you can learn it by throwing the EXACT items on a crafting table (no excess items) and if you have sufficient skill level (most are very low skill), and when you teach it to someone, they can then teach it to someone else
Teachable - if you learned it properly (from a recipe scroll) you can teach it to someone else, if you learned it from someone else you can use it but not teach it
Not Teachable - you can only learn it from a recipe scroll, and can not teach it

Also remember that ingredients like "wood timber" imply a timber of any type of wood, but all items used must be of the same type (no mixing maple and pine, for instance)

Forgive my ignorance, but I've never actually figured out how someone "teaches" another player a recipe? When a recipe is "teachable", what are the steps to actually transfer the recipe to another player?

    Two avatars meet.
One of them OPENS a trade window and their recipe book and DRAGS the teachable recipe to the trade window.
The other avatar ACCEPTS the trade and the trade occurs.
Avatars that have a lot of teachable recipes can 'teach' a lot and usually takes several trades since the trade window limits the number of items allowed in the trade window.

Yes, I did look in my book and the wand does not have anything next to the name, so it is not teachable - you have to buy it.

The requirement is Level 20 Carpentry.

The spool of thread from scraps was there, it says Re-Teachable, so it should be discoverable.

2 wax, 12 scraps and 1 raw cotton on the textile table.

With the item trade window. That's why I call it a hack. It works, but it's not intuitive.

You drag recipes from your recipe book window and emotes from your emotes window into the item trade window.

The recipe on Sotawiki is different to the recipe on SotaCraft by 2 wax (Sotawiki) and 1 wax (Sotacraft).
