To be honest, the graphics are underwhelming.

Graphics aren't the most important thing, so I don't mind personally. But I'm worried it will hurt the game's chances for larger commercial appeal.

There is a lot they can do with enhanced lighting, shaders, etc. to improve on what we're seeing even with the same models and textures.

While an updated isometric view would have been neat to see, there are plenty of games that can fill that space for me. Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity, Torment, etc.

I like the full 3D view of SotA, being able to look up at the sky/stars, stare off into the horizon and sunsets, etc. Just wish it had first-person mode.

Well ideally, I'd like an engine similar to GW2, but Unity is more cost effective for this situation. I just don't think they needed to go full 3D on this project.

Well, at the end of the day, you still need to sell your game.
And if your graphics are outdated, sure, you will have your community to play the game..
But, that also mean , less revenue.
And to keep your server online and also the development cost , you need $$$$.

My point : the better the graphics are, the more sell we'll get.

I wish SotA's client had a nice 3d graphical engine like this online shooter:

Or look at this, an online space combat game with card mechanics that still looks great visually:

Or an engine that supports shaders like these:

    Oh wait, that's all Unity.

There is so much im looking forward to in this game. But graphically its a bit under par for even MMO's out now. I am so hopeful that its just a alpha thing and as time goes by the graphics will be improved greatly during beta. Afraid i had to vote badly on graphic quality so far.

Since this thread is dated by the new release, I am going to lock it. If you want to give feedback on the graphics for the current release, I would recommend posting in the R3 Release Feedback Sub Forum.
