I think he should run away at a speed that an unencumbered player can catch.

Sheep/dog should just hang about, as they do in RL and currently.

    You "caught" it.
Was it wounded ? Was it aggro'd ? Do you have any speed "buffs" ?
Somehow I think you're missing something...... like he just stopped due to lack of interest....

Yeah, he was just standing there. The opposite of what deer do.

My suggestion is simply that it should run away. Some things stay in place (dogs,) some run toward you, and perhaps deer should run away.

I "caught" it, meaning caught up to it , even though I was very encumbered. So, go grab a piano then try to catch a deer in RL while hauling it. That was my point.

Normally they do..... I think the one you saw was bored or something.
Have you noticed the behavior on other deer before or since ?

Haven't seen deer yet this release. I will keep an eye out. If they already run away, then great!

Some of the stags are confused and back up when "running away". Looks like reverse mating.

That perhaps should be reported as a bug.
