I am surprised to say that I kinda agree with you, considering I was one of the ones who was pretty vocal about wanting a 3d map. However I think that will quickly change once more features are added in and more fine tuning is done to this 3d map. This one may not be that great looking yet but I think in time it will be. :)

Agreed... it's slaughtering my Mac right now, but it should shape up once they do some performance tuning, and add some roads so it's easier to see what connects to what.

One of the things noted in the forums is that the overland map has not been tweaked for performance yet and that they are aware of the issues and how it can be fixed. This will likely be addressed for R8 so do not get too frustrated. Try zooming in closer to the map in the meantime as this helps speed things up.

I think we are headed in the right direction but it will take a revision or two to get everything tweaked the way it should be.

I was a fan of the old paper map but yeah, this is definitely better. It would be cool if we could toggle modes tho...

Even if it were even more slow that now I will preffer this one much more. It looks already much more like a professional map.

Well, it looks more real. It feels like that yeah, there is a real 3D world there lol. I stand corrected... I like this much better than the RTX one honestly. I know the guy that did that one left, but this one has got the scale right.

I would like to see my character tho instead of that Flag Pawn.

Also I saw that one of the dungeons entrances is still the 2D pop-up entrance!

There could be a place for the old pop-up map, in addition to the new overland 3-D map... your wandering around would be done on the new "fully 3-D" map, but you could have an actual magically enhanced *map* in your pocket that you could pull out, reference, and then put back, kind of like the one in Minecraft.
