As a lot of you know, the final straw for me was the Crowns hitting the store. I saw this as a true pay to win feature. Some agree, some don't it's not really a discussion as much as a point of view. Since selling off and leaving I still follow my old guild of great folks, and our alliances we had which were all 110% good people all around. The friends I made after killing them in shardfalls, or the enemies I made killing them in open PVP zones.
Since leaving I have fallen back into some of my old accounts, Mortal Online for the hardcore kill or be killed.. WOW to jump into some of my old premades for RBG's even back to my original UO account to tinker around there. Even though as I write this I still have this itch I can't seem to scratch. I just felt like letting those of you who I helped, or was helped by in my years in SOTA that I truly miss you guys and wish you the best.

    Reguards,

I'm sure we'll always have a tent and bedroll ready when you return. :)

And we'll leave the light on.

I share your frustration with COTOs and the Obsidian Potions.

However I'd encourage you to still play and visit your friends here in the community. If you don't like COTOs, then don't buy them.

Honestly...COME BACK. Dont let one aspect of the game deter you from having fun with your friends. Hell i have two of those things in my bank box and have no idea what to do with them. Is of no concern to me....just leave em there and not worry about it. The HAVES and HAVE NOTS will always be around.....even in WOW and UO. If you cant come in and play and have fun then what is the point. Dont sweat the stupid [removed language, by Berek]....just come on back and help kick up some dust around here.

We miss you too bro. Things are really great after final wipe, id highly recommend you heading back to take a look. The dragons are doing great, the republic's growing and new events are being planned. You wouldnt believe the number of players you see now compared to our old hayday.

Until next time, I'll keep a skull on a pike and a beer in the fridge for ya.

Are you letting go all that you are missing just because of the cotos? Do those weight more than the friends you are missing?

let me express that a bit more in-depth...

i dont know you but i feel sad seeing you go, because i want a well populated game.

announcing it publicly and making fuzz about it imo potentially hurts the game, therefore i disapprove with the drama. *shrugs* good luck anyway :).

Money right now is "winning" in the game in that will enable you to win the land rush.

Those potions allow you to level faster, gather faster, gather more mats, ignore encumbrance, etc.

All of these things allow you to make money faster than other players and level faster to boot. They are unquestionably pay to win. I just don't want to partake in them even if it means I'm at a disadvantage because I'm morally opposed to what they represent.

Good luck with those potions in R33, especially the gathering speed one.

I'll take another look but I don't remember seeing one that gets you increased experience.

at the crowns of the obsidian vendors (usually at the same place as alchemists) you can trade CrownsOfTheObsidian for some temporary buff... like +40% gathering speed, carrying capacity and so on for 7 rl days. those come in form of a potion you need to consume to get the buff.

Well I bought an elven elder mage robe for 20 USD today and it looks like poop and has surface clashes with my cloak and is otherwise not so special. For 23 USD I could have got 25 COTO and sold those to finally buy an awesome wand and cloth armor (I am still barefoot now) because otherwise I spend well over 1000 GP/hr on reagents. I only discovered buying and selling COTO yesterday and sold my first two today to finally buy a nice wand.

This game is fundamentally pay to play. They gave me a cloth map with Explorer (but almost nothing else) but no plot or home and I killed a lich twice to get two bone thrones which are usless without a big expensive home and deed. The devs have designed this game for people to pay a lot for very little. I have never seen anything like it (I am not saying a few other games don't do this just that I have not seen it). They drink a lot of shots at the telethons to encourage others to drink so that people are more likely to spend (just like at a casino). It worked for me somewhat last night. I have now spent more than 150 USD on a game that is far below my expectations for 2016 and way behind schedule. I used to struggle to spend 60 USD on a finished game.

Did you buy the add-on store version or did you trade someone for the version from the Stretch Goal store?
