*looks* I can't even begin to fill it out, because the first question is ridiculous. I'm not getting any of those, and they don't give an option to say 'interested in' or 'none' or anything other than will you "probably or definitely own". So, ... no. Sorry. Nice idea, though Gemini -- too bad IGN failed.

They aren't looking for people who have interest in the consoles, just the ones who are probably going to buy a console. So if you are interested, but don't think you'll buy any of those, then don't answer it. Just like the shooter category. I'm not interested in shooters, so I'll ignore that question.

Weird categories that show some bias. Action and shooter games are two separate categories, besides being essentially the same type of game, and strategy and sim are the same category, besides being two different types of games.

I was surprised that Shroud of the Avatar wasn't even listed as an option in the RPG or MMO categories. I entered it as a write-in vote. They also missed Elite: Dangerous, although they did list Star Citizen which I seriously doubt will be released in 2014. Are these gaming websites just out of touch with what's going on in the industry?

I skipped some categories simply because I haven't been following enough of the games listed. And yeah, Star Citizen a 2014 title? CR already confirmed Alpha/Beta in 2014 with the game launching in 2015.

I voted. Shroud of the Avatar to be the best Puzzle game of 2014. :)

Major Game Rag sites tend to biased toward people that watch the Spike Video Game Awards, so I am surprised all the options weren't Halo or Call of Duty.

I would not worry too much about fitting a square peg in a round hole, even if you are no fan of IGN, vote.

Everquest is in 4th place and has less than 4,000 votes, if enough of the SotA community get behind this it will create interest which can only be good!

I voted in 3 categories...Didn't see it come up on the list...Been reading about sandboxes and forums and haven't really heard any mention of SoTA when people are saying where are the PvE sandbox games... I really hope SoTA gets some more publicity soon...No one seems to know about it.

Persistent beta for SC is in 2014. By August everything for SC is done and out in alpha, between then and end of 2014 the persistent world comes online (already in alpha by then).

I have said in numerous places Shroud's marketing campaign is not fairing well. They are even using the same company that SC uses for marketing.

My assumption is, they just are not wanting to be aggressive.

As for another "why" certain things were "missing", look at the populations.

    Elite has 42k backers.
    Shroud has 26k backers.
    SC has 340k backers.

When you are an order of magnitude in community size over similar KS projects, why would they make the list and you wouldn't?

The IGN population is just too broad to know about niche games that are being under marketed.

SC's numbers (fans and money) are still only a tiny fraction of the big titles like GTA 5 or CoD or whatever. So yeah, SotA doesn't even exist when it comes to these types of mainstream polls. That doesn't mean that it couldn't. If there is a light at the end of this tunnel, the game will hopefully speak for itself and gain major traction up through and beyond launch.

Elite: Dangerous (Frontier Developments) also has funding from private investors, unlike Star Citizen, so the KS community size isn't the only measure of comparison. Frontier is also a well established studio with 200+ employees and several other game titles to their credit.

In any case, Star Citizen is not scheduled for public release until 2015 according to Chris Roberts.
