Didn't say that. Rather I just pointed out that natives don't trust Outsiders.. and as there is no evidence at all that oversized, cartoonish pumpkin masks have ever been part of native culture and are only worn by Outsiders.. it kind of outs them as Outsiders when it would be much more natural for Outsiders to keep a low profile. Why flaunt your status as someone the natives don't trust?

Does anyone have any expectation that such a spell will ever exist?

Then I suppose the mass majority of real life Earthlings have the same tastes. The point is the size makes them quite literally impractical to wear around. Impaired vision, bulkiness, probably balance and security issues.. like I said there are reasons we don't see masks like that in reality. Unless it's a mascot character of some kind. We certainly don't see dozens of them together much less hundreds. It's got nothing to do with taste and everything to do with practicality.

Bowen, I haven't met a single NPC that hasn't known I was an avatar before I ever said a word. It's not a secret. I don't need to wear a pumpkin mask to give it away.

Yeah but that's also an "immersion breaking" and in all ways unbelievable feature. Unless there is some unknown way that natives can tell us apart by sight, there is no way they should know until they're told. I take that as technology issue rather than what the reality would actually be.

I've come to think of it as the locals can tell by the way we talk and move and act. It's like if you see, hear, and observe a tourist. You just kind of know "they aren't from around here".

I can also tell who's an NPC and who's a player without much problem. :)

Do you think they'd have a problem if you wore a pumpkin mask? I'm guessing no.

I think after 50+ years we would've learned to assimilate. :) As for NPCs vs players.. that's meta-gaming! ;)

Ok it may break immersion with you,( i respect your opinion i really do) but doesnt really seem to break immersion in anything, its just a costume! All fantasy games and books have different celebrations, and some of the different groups dont like them, so why not go out and hunt down all the immersion breakers, steampunk googles, electricity, tour guide robots, radios, phonographs, people running around with coconuts, acting like they are on a horse, coconut bras, flying balloon ships! So many things in game break immersion! I dont remember buying steampunk, spelljammer robot wars, or "Kolbolds learn how to make electrical guns." I dont really understand your point???? There is so much that has already broke immersions, skills included.

I think his point is that some will use them year round. Not sure lol. I know that for me, if I am trying to be immersed it would be a distraction, but yes there is nothing we can do about it, EXCEPT Friends online when it comes online. Then we can sort out the people we do not want to see by just adding and removing friends.

By the way I may be contacting you and Ariella later on to start some RP stories and our lore so we can possibly get some cohesion if you are interested. I would love to have you in a guild war setting sir.

aye, but maybe we could be competing for something, some dark relic, or some gem mines, or we are invading each others territory! We need to have a discussion and work this out. I think it would be awesome!
