    Bug Report Template
    1. Title: Loss of fps as soon as entering any combat
    2. Reproduction Rate: everytime now
    3. Blocker?
    4. Details: Played for several hours in the morning. Then during 1 battle in deep ravenswood, my fps locks up everytime I enter combat. any combat in any area. it makes it impossible to battle anything near my level as I cannot move or select skills. I have no issues crafting or gathering resources, running around the map or running around any area.
    5. Steps to Reproduce: happens in every battle, in every map.
    6. User Specs: dell xps core 17 3770, 12gb ram, windows 10, NVidia GeForce gtx 1060

I have had no issues in any other games I play since. Also video drivers are upto date.

Could you better describe the issue as you observe it? What does your framerate drop to while entering combat?
The next time you're in-game, I suggest using the /debug chat command. This will create a debug console bar at the top of the screen. When framerate begins to fall again, as you describe, check to see if it looks like any red errors are being fired?

We have not yet been able to reproduce the issue as described, so any additional details you could provide would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

i am experiencing this also... the Game is unplayable for me now with the last release. As soon as i enter combat i start loosing FPS. If enough mobs are engaged i begin to lock up. This is also affected by the number of Party members for me... From what i notice it appears to be related to spell particles.

i'll try and recreate with /debug

From what i can tell It is related to spell effects. every time I engage mages my FPS drops by 5-10 per a mage. When a hardened mage casted what appeared to be Banish. my fps droped by 20.

Last night what ever this is that was causing this was locking my FPS onto a single frame for 30+ secconds. I died twice to this which was enough for me to rage and quit. I gave my self some time to cool off from the experience. The party was 5 members. Of which 4 where in the dungeon. (hilltop fortress) i will gather some of them together and try to recreate the issue. I was only able to cause large dips in FPS while playing solo.

Would you be able to include your system's specs with the report for us to review further? Thank you.

For some reason I have been unable to reproduce this problem tonight. the computer is in the same condition (I have not even rebooted) as last attempt sunday. prior to last attempt sunday I had logged out and back in, and rebooted. it still messed up then. but everything was fine tonight.

@Attenwood check your conversations, I sent you my full DXDiag a video of a crash and the Crash log .

In the video you'll hear my friend confirming that i could still move around in the world. I brought up the task manager trying to encourage SotA to realize that it had crashed.

    hopes that this helps.

Ive seen the game using much more CPU than it did in the previous release as a result ive seen many more cpu spikes to the 80/90% range reducing my fps to next to nothing.. causing similar issues

Yes had very similar issues varying severity from mildly annoying to making play impossible. Dont use magic so not tied to those effects.

    Was fine before R45.

Dont have full machine spec but I know card is GTX980 with a fast processor up to date graphics drivers and a very fast fibre broadband connection.

Something in R45 has caused it for certain

@Gorthyn its probably not recommended but you create a short cut to the game something like

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Portalarium\Shroud of the Avatar\Shroud of the Avatar.exe" --force-opengl

Interestingly after yesterdays patch performance was way better (dont know if this is by design or coincidence) but had a couple of graphics glitches where landscape was replaced by water and once when the UI stayed but the world went black ! Both "cured" by logging out and relogging and both occured within the PoT of Kahli @Attenwood
