I log into single player online, in a town scene, and within 10 mins receive a popup indicating the instance is closing within 60 mins.
Why is a private scene closing so soon after i log in?

Usually happens when they patch the server. Then all scenes needs to repopulate.

Yeah....They made a change on the Server Side and need you to reload the instance you're in so that the change takes affect for you.

In the original GuildWars, players would receive a notification when the scene got an update but the game never forced people out.

It was more of a “if you want the changes, reload the scene” kind of deal.

Shroud could benefit from offering players to stay in the scene as long as they want but have an extra button on the HUD that pops up enabling players to reload without exiting and walking back in; sparing them 2 loading screens.

It does give you 60 minutes before you have to leave the scene. Also, what happens when there is an exploit that calls for an immediate hotfix? If you allow players to indefinitely take advantage of an exploit it could really screw up the game economy or give some players unfair skill/level increases.

They do have a similar setup.

There are two types of patches: non-critical and critical.

Critical is usually when an exploit or negative Impact bugs has been found or fixed.
Then everyone is forced to repopulate within 60 min.

Non-critical doesn't force the repopulation. You can play as long as you want.
However it splits up the players in instances depending on your build number. This is when people get confused that they can't party of teleport to friends or when going into same scene they don't see eachother.
