I thought I read a post yesterday about a generator that charges could be loaded into. Maybe I was mistaken.

Anyhow, I drew up several charges on separate transparent layers in Photoshop.

Not sure what to do next or if my CoA is even legal .... I merged it and put it in my signature.

I was also wondering how you get the image of the shield separated from the background. I notice several that look like they are sitting on the signature background. I'm guessing you have to match the background color and shade it?

Edit: here is the original idea...

    This is done in Photoshop
In Photoshop, select your background layer and delete all color. The layer should be transparent. Next save the image as a .BMP file. When asked, make sure you check the block saying something like "maintain transparency". Then upload like normal.

You can get the following result

Let me know if you need any more help.

So, after you find a host for your images, you can create a thread here and post the images.
Then one of us will pull the images and get your coat of arms loaded to the gallery.
We will then put the charges in our database, and eventually we'll get them into the generator.
Once the generator is part of the game, you'll be able to construct your arms in-game.
Your particular coat of arms (the one we put in the gallery) will be reserved for you.
I'm a little fuzzy on the technical details. That's pretty much up to Portalarium.

I turned on signatures, so I could see your design.
It's a struggle when they are this complicated, but I won't say impossible.
The bird needs to be one color, perhaps with voids that can be a second color. But 3 shades won't work. The fish symbol at the top seems doable, but I'm not sure about the eye.

Overall, I think something very similar to this can be made.

Okay, thank you. I will work on making it two colors. Do black and white count as colors? If not I will replace azure with ash. Argent (white), Sable (black), Bleu Celeste, and Ash.

I will make the king fisher (bird) Ash... the same as the border.

I noticed a lot of complex designs in the data base...I was being hopeful :)

I saved all my black outlines on transparencies if that helps.

Black and white do count as colors.
In this case, black outlines on transparent backgrounds are very helpful. The bird being black and ash would be two colors.
And, I failed to catch the crown. Crowns are reserved for nobility, and in those cases, the crown will sit on top of the shield.
That will have to go, or be replaced.

Not everything in the gallery is up to standard. A lot of folks are breaking the rules and are going to be disappointed at game time.
We have been waiting for the generator to be finished before sending them back for rework.

I'm kind of bummed out about not being able to use a crown anywhere :(

I guess I will restyle it in Black and Gold.

I would love to talk with you about ideas for your coat of arms, actually, if you're willing to sit down with me?

I simplified it into Five Fish Jumping (Charges), and One Fish Swimming. It's more Iconic now.

    So just to clarify...

My image, whatever that may be, has to follow rules that Portalarium hasn't set? Is that accurate?
Or put another way, if there are rules for image submission and Portalarium has set them, where are they?

    Given this:
    from here.

Why can't I just upload an image like Kickstarter says? Why is there a third party involved?

Is it Portalariums official stance that "made from a customized image uploaded by YOU!" means a third party, not Portalarium employees, will interpret my image, and produce a new version?
What if I don't want that, and I would rather upload, email, or post an image to a thread for Portalarium to import directly into the game?

If you want to start your own thread to address this issue, that would be great.
But to answer your first question, if you visit the thread called "Start Here", there's a link to the rules.

You can't just upload an image because of technical limitations. Ask Chris Spears or Portalarium to explain the details to you.
There's a third party involved because Richard Garriott asked us to do this.
This is Portalarium's official stance, per this video.

And, this isn't the place to air a grievance with Portalarium.
Do that in another thread, or contact Portalarium directly via support@portalarium.com.

This thread is for discussing the Kingfisher coat of arms.

Nothing in writing, nothing public, nothing on any portalarium assets or sites and it's official? Wow. Ok. So, I won't be getting the Family Crest I want. Duly noted! Thanks.

(no need for another thread, I got my answer)

The video is public, and on Portalarium's channel, and was featured on the Updates page.
I'm sorry you missed that. I'll look up the links for you.

You can make the coat of arms you want. You just need to do it within the system and parameters we make available.
We are taking images submitted by players and converting them to images that can be included in the builder, so people can make a crest as similar to what they want as possible.

I love the creative use of the fish!
That stands out to me as King Fisher!
Has someone provided a large (800 - 1024 pixel height) image for Frank to upload to the college?

I will. I didn't realize it needed to be that large. So I shrank it down. Is jpeg okay?

If you can't get it to PNG or SVG, just post a link and I can grab it and convert for you so Frank can get it in the college.
