They're pets. They float. (and bob around a bit) They have a string that connects to your raised hand. (it literally has a rope texture if you zoom in enough) So they can't be too hard to implement. We need them!
They need to go higher in the air than the pets though IMO. And be affected by wind mechanics in the scene to really be interesting. IT would also be cool to be able to "reel" a kite, make the line shorter or longer.
That's a random picture I googled. When I mentioned the idea on Discord, people actually asked if I was joking, so I was being proactive. And in that particular situation the kite appearing is sort of a bug, and the string goes away. Are you being sarcastic? I'm not sure what is modern about kites, it's sticks paper and string.
