[Known] Edvard won't finish Escort

Began a new game as I hadn't logged in for months. Got to bridge, followed edvard across killing everything and looting everything. Edvard ran down to boat and just stands there. When I try to speak to him, it says I have to complete the escort first. Ran across the bridge a few times and the quest "detaches" until I talk to Edvard at the boat again, then he still wants an escort. The boat won't let me use it until I speak to Edvard. I was going to restart character, but I don't want to lose the free greyhound and house that is in my inventory.

TLDR: Can't move beyond intro quest because Edvard is stuck.

 

Try logging out, then log back in and select start on world map? You could then run to a town with a bank and put those rewards in the bank.

Bank items will always be there, per account. Even if you delete your character, items you put in the bank will always be there.

Just be sure to put them there first!

 

I don't have the option of starting on a World Map, it's greyed out.

 

Ok damn! Worth a try though.

 

Ok, logged out for 15 minutes or so. Was placed back at beginning of town with Charlotte. Went through town. Edvard was on bridge again. Restarted escort and stayed REAL! close to him the whole time. This time the escort ended properly. Moving on, but a bug like that at the beginning of the game could cause a lot of people to turn it off and delete.

 

Same issue happened to me. I waited and stayed close. It still failed to get off the escort part of the quest.

The quest is stuck between "You must complete escort first before speaking" and "You should to talk to Edvard before leaving". Talking with Edvard get the message of "Let us continue to try crossing the bridge then"

 

Ok, so the fifth time this happened I went back and grabbed all the weapons Edvar named on this run through. I used the bridge defenders bow instead of the sword or the spear. The message I got after crossing the bridge was "You made it across safely. Put your bow away using the Z key then double click edvar to speak to him"

I'm assuming it was the bow needed to be used?

 

that requirement was supposed to be taken out quite a while ago, but this post will help them track down the remnants of it.

I just did this playthrough a few times and noticed the dialog remnant "put your bow away" and posted it as a text bug but then I saw this post - so moving my thought here -- when this fix is made, perhaps adjust the dialog from "put away your bow" to "put away your weapon" - unless that text is now gone altogether or replaced entirely.
