[Known]NPCs without proper train/buy keyword support POST HERE

after r42 was released today. i can no longer train in Etceter.

is at the top of its dialogue, but it does not mention train in its dialogue and if i type train that doesn't work either.

Submitted for review. Which trainer? Adventuring? Crafting?

For future bug reports please use the /bug command in the chat dialogue box, then paste that here and use the form when you fill out these types of reports. The reason is that, particularly this early in a release, there will be patches - and the devs need to quickly see the technical information that the /bug command gives such as the current patch, location, etc. In this particular situation, having the exact location would have helped the devs figure out which trainer you are speaking about.

Modia + Keb-Kerub - both Adventure Trainer/Crafting Trainers

The word train is not clickable like it is on a banker

Same in Owlshead. Mervyn can't be bothered to train me! When I click train, nothing happens. Handac as well. When I type train, nothing (Handac doesn't have a train option but he doesn't respond to typing it either).

 

Also both Laura and Gavin in Kingsport refuse to acknowledge the 'train' keyword. I need my fireflies and meteor showers!

Same in Harvest. Only the banker acknowledges and opens a window for you. The ferry man doesn't understand the word 'yes'.

 

Even after build 610, still not working...

 

Just updating for today - after a couple of patch downloads this morning, Mervyn in Owls Head still does not open his training window with the keyword "train".

 

Also in Owls Head - Handac the crafting trainer - although the text says to click train - there is no train keyword and typing train also does not open up a training window.

Jaanaford - trainers Serena and Vladimir - so appears perhaps all trainers affected.

Further testing --

I went to Gavin in Kingsport and tried training with Gavin -- it worked. However the interface was a little finicky. At first when I engaged him (pressed E to engage him) it immediately closed the dialog window. I then pressed E again and it said "you just tried to talk to that npc, please wait a moment". After a moment I just said "train" and it switched to dialog mode with him but didn't train. I then said train again and it opened the training window.

I could not find a Laura anywhere near Gavin nor elsewhere in Kingsport. There is an Alchemist named Julia, however. She was responding to "buy".

Next I traveled to Owl's Head... Mervyn worked without a hitch. Double-clicked (rather than "E") and clicked the hyperlink for "train", which opened the training window as expected.

Not sure what's causing these issues.

Trying Etceterer ...

Crafting trainer, Keb-Kerub opened up normally when I tried.
Master Bludgeon Trainer opened normally, however I have only starter skill -- 10 in Bludgeon combat.

Intuitively -- the issue appears to be either in the "what skills can they obtain" check or somewhere else in the user-data.

We're getting lots of duplicate reports - please check before posting a new issue, a quick keyword search will do it!
Some of the NPCs were fixed in Friday's patch, but not ever single one. Make sure you are on build 612. Not all trainers are broken, it's NPC specific.

We have more fixes coming for an upcoming build.

Here are some (but not all) of the ones we know that are still not working correctly as of build 612. We do *not* need any more reports of these:

Destiny Armage in Desolis
Anya in Desolis
Handac in Owl's Head - 'train' clickable but nothing happens, to exit scene you must hit escape
Judy Gurtner (farmer) in Kiln

If you find more make sure you post the NPC name (ideally coordinates) and scene.
