Today I visited the Kobold Battle Camp and I was the only player there. The Kobolds weren't hostile unless I attacked them, which made me wonder - are the Kobolds fair game, or is there some side story I missed that made them off limits for slaughter?

They'll talk to you and the merchants will sell you items. They seem somewhat neutral. They don't like humans, but they don't slaughter you for no reason.

I believe if your sword is out when you approach them, they will attack. But if it is sheathed, they will not.

In dialogue they make mention of their king and potentially earning his respect. I hope/suspect in the full game we can meet him and potentially do quests to earn his respect. Will the quests be virtuous? Who knows!

The gargoyles in ultima 6 looked like devils, but turned out to be normal people.

I invited a bunch of Kobolds to one of my hot tub parties and NONE of them showed up.

So now I just steal their stuff and kill them.

Remember that, next time one of you is honored to be invited to one of my epic hot tub parties. o_O

I don't want to get into lore spoilers too much, but if you read the book, there is a very interesting approach to non-humans in this setting.

I was going to attend one of your parties, but then I heard you have bloody kobold appendages in your hot tub. So I decided against it.

Just as well none of those filthy beasts turned up. I had a hot tub party that I advertised on Facebook and, next minute, Kobolds turn up. It was all over when someone screamed "floater".

Well, the Kobold camp is a perfect place for new players to level up. They yield 500 exp and are easy to dodge :)

Easy to dodge, and still have poor AI so they're very easy to kite.
