Alright... so in September/October of last year, I update the heck out of my PC.

But... I'm still running the same 27" 1080p ASUS Monitor.

I want a 4K Experience... I LOVE the specs and numbers on the ASUS ROG monitors... but heck and dang those beauties are expensive!

So... let's talk! What kind of performance, price and 4k Monitor suggestions do you all have?

Computer monitor... I have a nice 40" UHD 4k Samsung, 7 Series that I JUST picked up, but that's going to staying as a TV on the other side of the basement.

Are those the strange antiquities they display in museums?
    ;):p

*we have one taking up shelf space in the living room, but its only use the last year was the rare occasions when we fire up a console for kids parties, it's fun how much things change in a lifetime*

We have two in the house... We do watch shows, but all of that is streaming and on our own schedule. We might be watching a bit to much TV, but.. we also do a good deal of many other things as well.

Personally, I wouldn't buy a 4k monitor right now. I think you would be better off waiting 1-2 years before taking that plunge. 4k monitors are too much in their infancy at the moment, I want to wait until they mature a bit. Since you have a 4k TV, you can hook your computer up to it just to see if you like it.

There are two 4K monitors that I'm waiting to be released... and my decision will likely be based on price of them or whichever is available first:

    1. Asus Rog Swift PG27UQ

    2. ACER Predator X27

Not only are these both 4K at 144 Hz... but both of these are going to have Display port 1.4, which will match up with my GTX 1080 FTW.

I could do this. The TV is utterly incredible... but... I don't want to risk burn in on the screen.

I have a 4K Samsung monitor that I play SOTA on. With the perf changed lately with my gtx1070 Im easily playing the game now in "beautiful" setting. 4K is actually kinda annoying, even at 27", everything is just to small even sitting directly in front of it (so you end up changing the desktop to pretty much 1080p scale). On the flip side, I do have a 4K projector with a media PC attached to it in my theater and to be honest, the only real benefit to having 4K is when you can project it to a 10 foot wide screen (133").

Of course, you could always just go to 16k...

lol 16k .. the first thing they played? Minecraft. Good times.

Personally I never saw the point of anything above 24in as a montor.
Three 24 in monitors on the other hand is nice, at least in my opinion.

The acer predator monitor has been on sale a few times at decent prices.
From what the reviews said, it's really good. Despite being an acer branded product.

    Interesting.

So, it might be better to seek out a 30" 4k Display.

Still might need to site within 6" to really see the 4K.

I'm about 18" to 30" away from my screen. It's what feels natural.

If anyone has any "reasonably" priced suggestions of 4K monitors to take a glance at, please post them in here.

I mean... I personally really want my hands on one of those ASUS ROG 27" or bigger 4k Monitors... but, I simply cannot justify that kind of price.

I want to get one of them new 4k ultra short throw projectors...

Having used different size 4k monitors at work, I'd also recommend going big on this.
