1. We have a QA initiative where we work with the community more closely than ever to get your bug reports into the hands of the developers. Please use this forum for LIVE Server bug reporting. Do follow the format below, because it will help us out greatly in responding. If you do not, it's possible your bug report will be misinterpreted, or worse, lost!

Read BEFORE submitting your first bug: Reporting Bugs… QA 101 Document
    • Disable all Lua Add-Ons by using '/lua unload' in local chat or temporarily move all files/folders out of the SotA Lua folder then restart the game.
Ensure the issue still occurs before submitting a bug; Support staff will not debug Add-On issues
    • Search for your bug before posting in order to avoid duplicate reports.
    • Only reply to an existing thread if you have additional information for the reported bug. ALL extraneous commentary will be deleted to avoid cluttering the reports.
    • Keep your bug report short and factual.
    • There is no need to submit crash logs. Crash data we require is automatically logged.

A new QA build has been published, version 702! For this build, we have to do some server maintenance and force everyone to update to the latest build on QA.

We did some internal testing of Unity 2018.1 builds for Linux, and the input issue was even worse. However, we've reproduced this bug on a default Unity project and will be trying to make sure it is brought to Unity's attention so that it can be fixed.

So, for Linux, we have no choice but to go back to Unity 2017.2 for our builds, which is the same as the current live builds.

We also disabled the performance / optimization setting that we were testing for OSX and Linux as we have received numerous reports of hangs and crashes still.

So, at this point, the main engine features and versions are about the same as on Live, except for minor Unity patches.

Thanks for the update @BurningToad . Sadly we will have to be dependant on Unity now to fix the Linux build.

pitty on the unity bit. Is there a way i could get a direct download of patcher 113? 110 is an ancient patcher and it doesn't seem to like my network.
I've verified connection via port 55721 in / out no problem.

What do you mean? Is there a bug forum post about this for R54 or R55?

It's in the Release Notes Known Issues concerning Linux:
    • Linux clients may experience certain types of trees being rendered incorrectly
This was "fixed" in QA 697 but is back in 702

This build at least has such a more stable VRAM/RAM/CPU. No weird 100% processes hanging and jumping cores. VRAM seems not creeping up. Stays stable at 2.5G. FPS stable, no hitching/freezing.

Can you provide us with location coordinates for where you're still seeing this issue? We want to confirm it's the same issue we previously observed. We will see what fixes can be made until we have a linux build using the latest unity.

If you want something done right you have to do it yourself...

For all Linux related problems (or missing content like SotAMap) we get the same excuse for years "we wait for this guy or we wait for that".
Intern playtesting is great... but how about some intern bug fixing?

Well the problem is that port is using a closed software (Unity Engine) and they are dependent on them. They can not do bug fixing on it.

Using Unity3d as a developer must be great.
You can always point with the finger at Unity ;)

SotAmap is a different pair of shoes.

Sure, it is visible all over the place but I am mostly in Sawtooth Thicket.
    Area: Sawtooth Thicket (Novia_R2_Forest02_01) Loc: (-44.5, 16.0, 103.5)
    DBG: Tm92aWFfUjJfRm9yZXN0MDJfMDF8fCgtNDQuNDY0LCAxNS45NzcsIDEwMy41MTgpfCgwLCAwLjgzNCwgMCwgLTAuNTUxKXwyNDcuNDQxMnw0NC41MDk5NHw2LjcxNTA2

Just looking around from that point I see at least half a dozen other plants showing this.
This should be the same issue as mentioned in the Known Issues as I have been seeing it on R54 since release day, while patiently awaiting a patch for it.

That is slightly unfair on Unity. Portalarium chose the lower level licensing that does not provide access to the source code. I'm not knocking them for that, for Portalarium the much higher level is simply not cost effective for them, nor is it their job to fix Unity's bugs. But it can certainly be frustrating for all involved.

Thank you @BurningToad I was able to install it but the patcher is not the issue.

It's weird because this whole network is allowed out on every port. All ports that have been opened are allowed to receive feedback from said port.
A specific rule was made to allow p2p upload as well.

It should be noted that steam can install the game no problemo, after that the game plays. This has something todo with the patcher and the firewall.

This machine has no software firewall. runs ubuntu 18.04, the router is an Ubiquity Edgemax 8 port. Very strange indeed.

    Launcher:
    TCP port 55721
    TCP Port 5074
    UDP Port 3544
    UDP Port 6881

And while your at it, open these also:

    UDP 5055
    UDP 5056
    UDP 5057
    UDP 5058

I've already done that. I'm going to muck about with my home router this evening. I have a much simpler version of the same thing.
If I can't make it work there I can rule the router the cause.
