I always have to throw my $0.02 in - on an SSD, you will barely notice load times :).

Been on a SSD since day one, you definitely still notice load times and this release definitely improved those load times.

Do you mean that you barely notice them at all, or did you mean you barely notice the improvements they made. I'm just curious, haven't gotten in game yet today.

Good to know! That's what I was wondering.

@Adam Crow pardon, I mean the load times have always been very fast for those who have the client installed on an SSD (presumably with their operating system on the same SSD). Now that you mention it, I dont really notice improvement of load times, as Ive never really paid attention to them.

I just like to evangelise SSDs like crazy so they get utilized more and hopefully get cheaper cheaper cheaper... I miss the days of buying 1TB for under $100USD, but the speed improvements of an SSD at that price, with 1/10 the storage space, still beats having the storage space. Once you use an OS on an SSD youll never go back.

I dont mean to steal the devs' thunder, so YAY OPTIMIZATIONS!!!

Make to run SSD in RAID 5 for drive redundancy. These type of drives if they fail, they fail for good. Not warning, nothing.. Putting it in the fridge wouldn't help you recover the data.

What I don't understand is why are the loading times in offline mode as long as in online mode?

Because the same data (models, scene architecture) is loaded in both instances. Offline mode will be faster if you load a town since there are no player houses there.

Very curious to compare load times of a town like Owl's Head in offline and online mode, I'll try to report my findings later today.

I'm thinking of buying an SSD. What are the priorities for installing games and OSes on it? OS first, games second? Sadly I won't be able to put all my games and OS on the one I can afford.

OS first and all updates to OS... Then only load SotA to that drive... I purchased 2ea 240 gb and set them up in a striping RAID for a total size of 480 gb, they were on sale for like $79.00 ea, so it didn't break my wallet... That assuming your MB can support RAID...

If you have more than 16gb of system RAM, you could also disable the "swap file" feature of windows, and the auto scheduled de-frag, don't need them with SSD...
