This was an issues from like R50. It was fixed, and now since R56, it keeps resetting.

newest drivers etc. no throttling, no overheating etc. I cannot find the necro thread to show you
what was going on last time.

Machine resetting is not something within our control. Only 3 things come to mind as an option. First and least likely, the CPU is over heating. This is unlikely as that is a beast of a processor and we're probably only using a quarter or less of its power. Second is video card is over heating. This is possible but seems unlikely. Last option and most likely, latest Nvidia video card driver is a bit flaky. We've seen this a number of times especially on Windows 10. If anyone else reads this and is on Nvidia and having no problems, please share your driver version number so Kaffien can try downgrading to an older driver.

Another possibility (and what happened to me) is that the video card is not getting the power it requires. When I got my 1080, the power supply I was using *said* it was good enough to handle it, but the computer kept restarting when it was put under load. Got a power supply with a better wattage to put in my new drives, and lo and behold, the computer stopped rebooting. After the fact, I had a tech run a test on the PSU and it wasn't outputting what it should.

I've been running NVidia Drivers 398.36 from June until the past week when I upgraded to 398.82. Not having any real issues with either one.

@Kaffien Was this the issue you ran into where adding a SATA device, in addition to your m.2 SSD fixed the issue previously?

Previously the adding of the sata drive (not the m.2) i started with the m.2 solved it.
Or perhaps it was totally unrelated and they fixed something or nvidia fixed something that day.

CPU is chilling with a liquid cooler at 45 Celsius under load.
GPU is chilling at 63c max temp under load
Levels on the PSU are showing stable on all rails under load.

I tried downgrading the driver. Still kept on crashing.
Any other game that push it even harder, no crashing.

Compiling code, no crashing. Every single nasty 3Dmark test that I've run, even 4k tests
there is no crashing at all. Every single test completes without error.

The crash is almost instant as soon as you enable max shadows. even lowest shadows will cause the reboot.
I have enabled max shadows again. so far no crashing.

No windows updates or Nvidia updates have been installed.

I'll update again if this nonsense continues.
