The first thing I noticed in playing r41 is the dramatic reduction in framerate. I've always played on "beautiful" level and generally haven't had any problems until now. I've had to switch to auto which fixed the problem.

Everything else is looking great, however.

    Sure.
Intel Core i7-6850K Processor, Nvidia GTX 980 Ti, Windows 10 64, 32 DDR4 Ram, Solid State Drive with 64 gigs free space.

Everything seemed to be running flawlessly until this release.

Not seeing any error spew on your side. Your frame rates seem a bit low for your machine.

You're only getting 40-ish in Novia and most people are 60 in Novia on a machine like that.

Is this just generally bad or is it more of a stuttering or hitching?

Major stuttering and hitching as soon as I logged in for r41. It was so consistent I had to reduce the graphics level to auto. The only time I ever experienced any stuttering was on the overland map going by a lot of trees prior to this release. Now, it's stuttering and hitching on the map and in scenes. Auto seems to correct the problem but just thought you all should be aware of it. I miss playing on beautiful but i'll live. :)

@Chris I seem to be having the same issue. R40, very little hitching, R41, I am getting it like crazy. I'm currently running at Fastest, and turned off everything that I thought would help, anti-aliasing, bloom, etc. Same thing. I did reduce my screen resolution down and that helped a little. The hitching isn't as "hard", but still happens a lot.

    3.4 Ghz Core i7

Same issue here. Overall performane dropped, and more memory crashes now since r41.

    Specs:

    Windows 7 64 bits
    i7 - 4790k @ 4.20 ghz
    16GB ddr3 1866mhz
    ASUS Strix GeForce GTX 970

Same here. I was actually able to run on my MacBook Air for a while in R40 (forced by road trip). I was quite surprised to return to my regular iMac and - having updated to r41 - find it running no faster than the MacBook. Downgrading to 'Fast' has restored framerate, but I was at 'Good' in r40 and doing about as well. I assume the MacBook will once again be hopeless.

ETA: Shadows may be part of the problem. Reducing or turning it off improves things. Plus the shadows flicker most obnoxiously on the overworld.

Unsure if this will be universal, but running two screens (1 running the game in windowed, other with web browser or a media player running) off of my graphics card (gtx1070) resulted in stuttering frame rate since this latest patch.
The easy solution i found was running the second screen from the motherboard graphics, and leaving the game running through the graphic card.
Card should be more than capable (i run 4 screens whilst using iRacing), but this will work for now.

One thing to make sure of is that the game is running on your graphics card and not an integrated card if you are running on a laptop.

I haven't seen any dramatic FPS drops myself, but what I have now is unusual and random half-second freezing.

That explains a lot on my end, but curious it only became noticeable post-41 for me.

Assuming you have "Multiple Display Performance Mode" enabled in Nvidia Control Panel?

I have also experienced a overall decrease in performance to where the game is largely unplayable.
For some reason loading seems to take a much longer time as well.
Previously i was running on beautiful with no issues.

Intel I7, Geforce GTX 970, 8 GIG ram, Platter HDD.

Noticing the same as others. GTX 970, 2 SSDs, i7 4790k, 16 GB Ram, windows 10.

I would say everything just feels more sluggish. And things like opening doors - double clicking as I run up isn't opening them the first attempt.

I'm not really getting major hitches that I'm aware of.

I head the same impression on my Mac although the crashes didn't help and I can't support this feeling with hard data.
On the QA build I did not experience any performance drop. Apologies if this is a very fuzzy post.

Dumb question - have you Windows 10 folks installed the Windows 10 "Creators Update" ? Perhaps that's related? I see they added the ability to record/stream from games with the "Game Bar" - Win+G ?

Interesting thread. I've seen hitching problems as well, but based on info here I am going to tweak my graphics card settings to see if that helps!

I'm having huge performance problems in R41 as well. Game lags and stutters within a minute or so of loading to the extent it just becomes a mess and unplayable.

I haven't installed the Win 10 creators patch.

    Running Win 10 64bit.
    All drivers up to date.
I have 16mb RAM running an Nvidia GTX760

I have always been able to play the game with pretty high level graphics, now unplayable at same levels.

As an addendum to my precious post, I am not seeing this issue on my MacBook 12". As always, I have to remember n it at the lowest possible settings, but I'm not seeing the same hitching issues.
