    R30 Mining timing details

Here is the listed effect of the equipment under test.
I've buried them behind the spoiler tag because most people won't need the reference
    Pickaxe
    Durability: 100/100
    Weight: 0.5
    value: 10

    Artisan Pickaxe
    Durability: Indestructible
    Weight 0.1
    value: No value
    +1% Mining Meticulous Collection Chance

    Pickaxe of Prosperity
    Durability: Indestructible
    Weight 0.1
    value: No value
    +3% Mining Meticulous Collection Chance

Pickaxe with True Bronze Engravings +1
    Durability: 100/100
    Weight 0.5
    value: 10
    +3 Mining Survey Distance
    +30% Mining Gathering Time Bonus
    +5 Mining Level

    Pickaxe with Gold Engravings +1
    Durability: 100/100
    Weight 0.5
    value: 10
    +30% Mining Gathering Time Bonus
    +3 Mining Level

    Pickaxe with Silver Engravings +1
    Durability: 100/100
    Weight 0.5
    value: 10
    +15% Mining Gathering Time Bonus
    +2% Mining Critical Success

Pickaxe with Heavy Iron Engravings +1
    Durability: 100/100
    Weight 0.5
    value: 10
    +3% Mining Meticulous Collection Chance
    -40% Mining Gathering Time Bonus

    Obsidian Potion of Expedience
+40% Swift Gathring on all Gathering skills for 7 New Brittanian months (7 Days)
    Weight 0.3
    value: 40

All time measurements are rounded down.
If it was between 11 and 12, I record it as 11.
    Time was measured as follows.
    double click node.
Jump to interrupt after positioning is completed.
    double click node again.
start time when miner starts digging. (basically 1 sec after dbl click)
    stop time when bar disappears.

I will let the data speak for itself, but to me it looks like anything that gives Gathering speed is no longer a flat increase, and anything that gives gathering skill may increase your speed, or unlock more the bonus, or something. But as you can see from the data, At high levels, dimishing returns kick in and having True Bronze isn't really critical, at low levels, True Bronze is the only tool that you want to use.

Potions of Expediance are nice to have at all times, but never actually give a 40% speed bonus the old gathering speed bonuses did.

    Update August 29th 2016.
This data was compiled before artisan or prosperity tools were changed have the bonuses the currently enjoy.

My limited testing shows that in the 80/90 mining range prosperity tools no longer have a measurable speed difference with true bronze, while under the effects of a speed potion.

Thanks for the data. Given the mat requirements for a full suit (without masterwork attempts) is several hundred ore (or 100+ ore & 900+ scraps) , it seems bizarre to require a "GM" miner to wait 10-20 seconds per node. And making harvesters endure over 35 seconds per harvest at the low skill end is downright sadistic, imho.

I do not understand the ongoing efforts to deter new players and punish existing players. It makes no sense to me. Good on you, Rofo, for bringing this to light in such a direct way.

Does the "level" of the scene you choose to mine in still impact length of time to mine?

Owl's nest Mine (copper & Iron) and Eceter (Gold, Iron, Copper) are the same as each other.
I assume Highvale and solace bridge are still much faster.

So where this test was conducted matters as well, your earlier impression of "sadistic" may only feel that way if a low-level player is attempting to mine a high-level area. (Edit - that was agra - mixed up some posts).

Regardless, I'm sure it will be tweaked given time - and that 35 seconds or whatever at the low level should be increasing on a relatively quick curve anyways, GM is not double the effectiveness of 50 according to past disclosures by @Chris. I would imagine by 20 you're a lot faster and by 30-40 you're moving at a fairly good clip compared to where you start.

Skill level 1 only lasts a few swings.

All these tests are conducted at Owl's nest Mine, because it was the only place I knew I could take my char, after I deleted it to capture the low level numbers.

It was ramping up quite fast but then stalled out at 15 -20 Leaving me to think that your skill limits the amount of bonus you can "consume"
going to call it a night, tomorrow I'll rip the potion off and get those numbers at 20 and then start working up again without the potion since that is what we will probaly all be leveling with.

    @Rofo
Great Job! These numbers are accurate too. (incase anyone was doubting them)
    @Chris
    @Attenwood
This is a HUGE slap in the face for all of us That PLAY A CRAFTER AS A PRIMARY ROLE.

I for one simply do not see myself as having the time to spend a 2nd and 3rd night in the mine, since we just went times -4 in mining speed
in order to get the Ore needed to craft and enchant 1 Plate suit,
And not that I'm against buying ore, but I need the Xp also that goes along with Mining my own Ore. so my XP rate just took a HUGE hit also.

Now I will admit that R29 mining rates at the following skills were a bit too fast. (2 seconds) but we went from far right to WAY to far Left, I think a 4 second node gathering rate would fit as a Happy middle.
    100 Mining
    100 Swift gathering Mining
    90 Meticulous gathering
True Bronze engraving kit on Pick Ax

I hope this gets some much Needed attention and fast. as I'm no longer playing.
