I originally thought that the coconuts was just a joke and we would have some sort of mount in the near future. However, we are almost to release and people are still required to travel with cocunuts on the overland map? I do not know anything about designing a game, but isn't this relative common feature in a lot of games?

How about selling the mounts for overland map travel in the add on store? Won't be pay to win because it is just getting people to a spot faster. People can add variety and you can make some money. Most importantly we get rid of the sad coconuts.

Mounts likely will not make release 1. Probably release 2. :(

Yeah the mechanics are somewhat in (that's kinda what the coconuts tap into), but the actual animations, mounted designs, mount behavior, etc. haven't been prioritized yet. We'll get them eventually, but the devs are putting crafting time and development resources towards other areas they feel are more important.

Seems like all of these things should be done before release.

There has been talk about mounted combat which is a lot more complicated than the normal movement increase only ala wow.
Furthermore mounts for traveling in SotA is not really needed, so getting core features done seems more important tbh

I also think it is a good opportunity for them to make a few bucks on the add on store. I just would request the mounts be able to be used on the Overland Map.

I also despise the overland map so maybe it is just me that wants to spend as little time on it as possible. ;)

Coconuts can be used on the overland map so I imagine mounts would be too. I love the overland map. It's a way to be sure you are going where you really want to go. It would be nice to eat people there, though.

Personally, at current situation of the game mount is not crucial, since the game is zone transition base, and map is not that large to traverse if you use teleport function correctly.

However, mount would be nice if there’ll be larger area.

Maybe mount will function as fast travel in overland map near future.

I thought mounts might have been an early stretch goal that didn't get funded. Peeps didn't buy enough non-rideable horses to fund making them rideable.

Regardless, I agree that mounts aren't really needed in this game for now. Travel is easy. Maybe in Ep 2 when there is another continent.

I have no idea as to why coconut mounts would even be possible in a kobald tech world. Monty Python yes, it worked then, eons later not so funny. My opinion, the coconuts just aren't quite the technological wonder I am looking for .;)

Mounts have always been on the schedule for Episode 2.
Mounts weren't available at launch for UO and they would be of limited usefulness here.
Mounts are a perfectly valid feature to not have at launch.

I was in the World of Warcraft Beta and I'm pretty sure I remember mounts.

Corrected. Thank you. the place they would have been really useful but weren't there was Everquest... I have vivid memories of running across the continent.

Actually some of the tech is in with being able to interact with objects that move you forward, upward etc such as the log ride, elevators, mine carts.

And as a reminder another opinion on the needs of mounts for this game are many. We may not have the land mass, but they can be used to carry capacity help, fun things like horse races, teaching tricks for contests, speed, and much more. There is a desire to have them in this game which makes them necessary no matter that some see no need for them. Later perhaps we will get flying, who knows.

If anyone does see that players have horses it is because they participated in the stretch goal or bought them from another player who did participate. The stretch goals were set at an astronomically high goal that would have been great to get but really it wasn't the time anyway because the tech would have had to be created right then anyway. In the meantime we can keep the ideas going for them of what we want to see.

"Astronomically High" in that it was set at a level necessary to at that time hire additional resources to build the technology and get them paid to do it.
    Programmers aren't cheap.

Yes I know. I am not saying they should have done it then and that is one reason for the high cost of the stretch goals. Not disagreeing at all ;)
