I learned about Nina Simone late in life it wasn't until the movie Point of No Return but OMG how I fell in love with her sound. There is a decent documentary about her on Netflix.

 

So a bit disgruntled after work (my firearms are safely locked still), I was whining to a guildie who said Carpenter's Christmas ( I had to admit I own the Carpenter's Greatest Hits CD) but OF course that takes me to Pat Benatar like those 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon things and here is Pat Benatar on Dharma and Greg doing a Carpenter's Song (with one of her own at the end). This is not her only 'acting' credit her and her husband Neil were also on Charmed. But anyway Pat Benatar doing the Carpenter's got me out of my work funk.

So a game that I think was not uber popular in the US was Nier for PS3, I don't have a PS4 but a new Nier came out this year. What was so unique to me in Nier (I) was the fishing OMG the fishing which you only had to do one tiny thing for story , but it could be come so much more you had to fight the fish in and with the vibration on the controller oh man and you had to react very quickly and counter-intuitively to reel the fish in. I did my platinum on this game because the soundtrack was beyond amazing it was a a month or so into the game that I found out that the words I thought she was singing ended up being just some made up gibberish from many languages and that made me love the song more. I may buy a ps4 just to play and listen to the new Nier that was released earlier this year.

In the meantime one of my favorite pieces of music from the original where the words she says are not real, but you understand them.. That is phenomenal to me.
