Name Ban : what to ban?

So... Debbie Does Sota is a banned name, violating the naughty bits section of avatar naming. My email I've had which passes facebook Youtube and Yahoomail dirty names muster (tho not Sota's ) is Pohccahodass, one of the joke names you give a boxer in wastelands 2. Things like swears, Aszzzz Hitlers, ... I get that . It's a slippery slope, but ok. but :

Debbie does Sota is so tame and obscure, I don't see why it was changed. after a month that I got used to it and started to ... well... love the name. I looked forward to seeing Debbie. I wanted to see Debbie do Sota. and as punishment, the name was changed to something worse.

I respectfully request you to please reinstate the original name.

I know this person, their name was changed to Waldolanus Farfoot.

I gather some people are emphasizing the last syllable of their first name or making jokes involving it which is unfortunate.

I recommend that players are given a prompt to choose a new name perhaps on a first offense. THEN you can rename them Waldolanus.

No one I ever saw messed or commented on his name before now the FEMALE avatar is being called Waldo's Anus. It is really getting rough. Please allow him to make an appropriate name.

Yeah he was given a worse and dumb name, 25$ for a name change should have Multiple names they can choose from or just plainly make a new name. Just allow them to rename their own character! cant be that hard to let them choose another! personally I would rather have an option to remake my own name!

 

I think it's wrong to charge Debby Does Sota $25 to change their name because Portalarium thinks it's inappropriate. This is a dirty way to make money off the players.

Names are objective. To some, it's fine. To others, it's wrong.

Debby Does Sota should have been given a free name change at the least.

Nobody in the guild ever had a problem with the name and that player is a very cool person.

Portalarium if your going to charge someone money for a name change at least give them an option to come up with another name, free of charge the first time! Most of us have spent a boatload of money on you, you could at least give us a little more respect since its because of us your game has become what it is now, you have more players now than you did at the start, and we will be responsible for any future releases! What I'm seeing Is a bad business option on your end.

Unfortunately in this situation the player was charged, by Port for a name they (port) wanted changed. again bad business

Yep that seems off like they should allow the first offense to change it.

Hmm I have seen games where they auto change your name, usually to something made up, which some have liked, but typically as others have pointed out it is changed but you have an appeal process to get it to something acceptable by both parties. I hate to be harsh but changing your name and then asking for money because you violated TOS seems a bit harsh compared to other business models in other games.

Now on the other side of the coin Debby Does Sota .. really? How could you not have thought that would get reported?

yeah but honestly there is nothing wrong with the Term Debbie Does SOTA, The only reason it seems bad is because of the movie that is named somewhat similiar. For instance if it said "Debbie does Las Vegas", depending on where your personal mind goes it could just mean that Debbie went to Las Vegas, gambled and had a great time there or She performed there as a singer, magician etc....! It not really bad unless your mind goes into the gutter with that statement. Its how you take it!

 

also up there earlier, someone pointed out the statement by port, that states a free name change.

 

as it goes down the rabbit hole of authoritarian political correctness, expect more of this. This is a stance that Port has taken that will not foster anything but negativity I am afraid. The stance of "stomp out" instead of at least just offering a name change (at least the first time) is pretty draconian. Its like they want to upset people.

 

Actually the development team should be thanking DebbieDoesSota for advertising the game imo.

Now if everyone would change their name to similar names like MajoriaDoesSotaAndAlwaysHas that would be the highest honor for this game. To state that players prefer to play this game by saying it in their nane well that is an honor and testiment to that players enjoyment of playing this game.

They should not be shot down. The name in question fits this bill and therefore imo should fit in the free name change category at the very least.

So please reconsider and don't penalize loyal players this way. *Picks up picket sign* *we want justice*
